Ah...that's what it's called. I knew it was a pretty common piece of music, but never knew the title/artist.

Ever see the time "Marlon" brought Michael Jackson's "Bad" album as a gift to Dave?

( pointing to the album cover art ) "It's she beautiful? I'm in love!"

I'm pretty sure that was right around the time he hosted "Friday Night Videos" in character as Marlon Brando.

"It's doesn't mean 'Bad' as in 'bad.' It means 'Bad' as in 'good'."

I'm pretty sure I've got that out in the garage somewhere melting away. I may have almost as much '80s Letterman on VHS as you, so it might be a good idea for me to digitize that shit before it gets destroyed by the ravages of time, dust, heat and humidity.

I've kept most of my VHS stuff in pretty good shape, I think. But it is still just tape - it's not gonna last forever in ANY context.

I really need to get a DVD burner.

Off the top of my head, here's what I have Dave-wise :

~ The first 2 weeks of "Late Nite" on NBC on 2 tapes.

~ A "best of" the last couple weeks of "Late Nite", including the entire last show.

~ Several of the anniversary shows, including a multi-tape official release box set that's still in the shrinkwrap.

~ 3-4 other official releases.

~ A tape I call the "bootleg" tape that I compiled from about 15 other tapes...some of the material is pretty low-quality, but there's a TON of great stuff in there.

I've got a bunch of other junk, too.
