"Rebels" is a great song, but my all-time favorite Petty tune (also from that same album) is "Dogs on the Run." That and "Even the Losers" are like 1a and 1b for me when it comes to TP.

As for the new album, after one listen I can definitely say it's better than either The Last DJ or Echo, but that's a pretty low hurdle to clear. It's good, but still well short of his best work.

i think echo SOUNDS really cool, but the songs aren't there.

I think if you like Wildflowers, Into the Great Wide Open (which, despite having "the Heartbreakers" tacked onto it, doesn't really sound like a Heartbreakers album,) and Full Moon Fever, then Highway Companion should please you too.
