'Cause i don't...

I've just never felt the need to drive anywhere.

I don't have my license either.

I live in the geographically-largest county in the U.S. (with the exception maybe of Alaska), but one of the least population-dense.

So yeah, I need a car. Not quite as vast here as in western Australia, but couldn't do much without one.

I figure in the 15+ years that I have been driving, that I've put about 230,000 miles on my cars. So yea, I drive.

I live in Vermont. If I didn't drive, there would be no way to get out of Vermont.

That said, I do know some people here who do not drive and I don't. get. it.

i don't drive. i bike, walk, take public transportation or beg for rides.

i realized while driving a borrowed car through the suburbs last week, i really, really hate driving. makes me crazy.

of course, i live in a part of town which has excellent 24 hour public transportation all around me. if i still lived in the suburbs, a car would be a necessity.

I do not either, and I take quite a bit of shit for it, especially in a desolate state like Nebraska.
I currently do not have a license because I let mine lapse once it was apparent I wasn't going to buy a car soon and due to the fact I can't afford insurance even if I was able to drive.
My girlfriend would love to have me drive, and I wouldn't mind having control of a car every so often. I don't think I'd ever have an inkling to drive if we had a metro train that ran between Lincoln and Omaha.

I don't drive regularly, except when on business or vacation. I dont miss it too much.. Gas costs are the reason.

I'm 32 and haven't driven since I was 18. I take the Caltrain to and from work and the lightrail for other occasions. I always offer money to friends for gas when they give me rides, but no one ever takes it.

i have a bike.
my license is collecting dust, and as long as we're being held hostage by big oil, it's going to stay that way.

I'm probably not going to bike 20 miles to work. Not in January, anyway.

I have never driven and never want to. I barely know how to turn a car on. I much prefer walking and bussing for environmental and cash reasons, amongst others.

With my friend just dying in a car crash there's even less of a likelihood that I'll ever want to. But that's fine with me.

yeh, i cant imagine living this way in maine [right?]. i do it in nyc, but only with the aid of some serious thermals and lined wool gloves.
of course the subway is an occasional necessary evil, tho i avoid it like the plague, which i think is alive & well on some of those trains.

While its true that it currently costs around $75 to fill up my truck, I'd pay $750 a fill up as long as I dont have to be involved with public transportation.

For the record, there's nothing like taking a road trip in your car and taking in the scenery. Stopping where you want and do what you want.

As my niece and nephew were growing up, we'd take 'em on "Gangster Rides". No, not gangsta...gangster. It came from a very old episode of The Lil' Rascals where Froggy gets taken on a "gangster ride" on bike handlebars. Basically, it means that we go for a lil' cruise to nowhere in particular. Anyway, yesterday my niece came over and it was so hot in my house that she suggested going for a gangster ride for some car a/c. I love those moments cuz it gives us time to bond. For instance, she asked if I planned on not having Christmas Eve at the house since my mom died. "I hope not, Tania, cuz it's tradition and I like coming over."

As for commuting to and from work...yeah, it still blows.

Yeah, I love driving, but I also don't have to deal with traffic on a daily basis.

As for roadtrips? I am your girl.
