somewhere in august i will do this in detail, amassing a W or L for each nfl scheduled regular season game, then predicting the playoffs, etc. But initial impression:

AFC West: DEN

AFC Wildcard: MIA
AFC Wildcard: BAL

NFC East: PHI
NFC North: GB
NFC South: CAR

NFC Wildcard: SEA
NFC Wildcard: NYG

AFC Champion: DEN

NFC Champion: CAR

Super Bowl Champion: DEN

GO!!!

That's initial impression. My only strong feeling in there is denver. They've made improvements in the offseason, didn't lose any major components, face a division with a lot of key turnover (coach,qb especially) and probably the weakest nfc division (the north). INDi would be my superbowl favorite, but their division will only become stronger, they play the toughest nfc division, and lost some major pieces (mostly edge and thornton).

Moxie,
The Chiefs? I know a ton of people who'd kiss you for that pick. I don't see Herm Edwards and their porous defense pulling off a Pittsburgh this season.
They had their best chance the year Montana was still playing for them and they blew the playoff game against Denver by going for the td rather than playing it safe and going for what would have been a game winning FG.

My earlier comment may have been too obtuse, so allow me to clarify.

THE COLTS STILL HAVE PEYTON MANNING AS THEIR QUARTERBACK!

In other words, they ain't winning (or even going to) any Super Bowl.

same reason I have to take issue with paper and paladisiac: I just don't see Jake the Snake running the table in the playoffs without shitting on himself at least once, probably with the game on the line.

I believe that eventually a Manning has to win something once. The odd are in their favor.

Yeah, I agree about Denver. Of course, you and Loog are out of your mind regarding Carolina, but you guys are still pretty solid otherwise.

You'd be much better off sliding your chips over to Eli.

I'm not saying they won't be good, I just dont think they'll make the playoffs. The defense is a year older and lost a couple pieces, (as Loog said) they have lots of questions at running back, the devil MUST come back to reclaim Delhomme's soul at some point, RIGHT?; and if thats not enough, they signed Keyshawn Johnson.

Plus six games against ATL, Tampa, and NO are tough.

You see I've met Eli and been around him a little. He isn't winning anything but freedom from the clap.

Better that than getting anal warts from Kenny Chesney.

If a team doesn't make the playoffs in the piss-poor NFC, they ain't good.

I can definitely see the Chiefs making the playoffs. That's one of the elite backfields in the NFL (Green & LJ).

I think the Chiefs can make the playoffs, their offense is more than good enough to win 9-10 games again. I was just giving you crap about them winning the Super Bowl.
I actually only feel bad for the Kings, who were once in Omaha and then shared by Omaha/KC. I see you didn't mention the Royals. I have no pity for them, or their miserable Triple AAA club in Omaha.
I'm still pissed the voters of KC were too stupid to vote yes on a bond issue that would have built a retractable dome at Arrowhead, so they could host the Super Bowl. They voted to make improvements to the stadium, but not the one thing that would have guaranteed them the biggest football game of the year.

Bob, Trent's been somewhat consistent, but he's terribly mediocre and has the knees of a 60-yr old whore. Once he's outside the pocket you can hear the collective gasp at Arrowhead. Green's nothing without our wicked O-line - I'd take a J Harrington over Trent any day of the week.

Promo, I pick the Chiefs, Royals, and Jayhawks to win it all every year. Every year. Btw, you omitted my KSU Wildcats from the college list. Not my alma mater, but I root for the purple through & through.

Yeah, maybe that's a bit much. How about a freshly concussed Chris Chandler with one punter's shoe? I'd feel much more confident him.

It's BC bud, Monty. And it's strong. Wear shinguards.

I'll add KSU next time, despite the fact I don't really like them. I really hope Nebraska spanks K-State in Manhattan this year. I really hate that lame Powercat mascot. The Huskers have gotten spanked in Manhattan the last two times they went there, so with KSU in a rebuilding year and Nebraska picked to win the division, the Huskers have to stick it to them.
What are you going to do about basketball now that K-State has Huggins as their coach.

Eh, I can't even make predictions this year. I am so ridiculously nervous and obsessed with this season. I am a lifelong Eagles fan and this is going to be a key moment in the McNabb/Reid era. I don't think the Eagles will be as bad as people say, but the NFC East and the Eagles schedule are both brutal.

Anyway, my goals for the season are to see Brian Dawkins lay out TO, and to see the Redskins not make the playoffs. Everything else is secondary.

If I had to pick, though, I would go Carolina over Indy in the Superbowl.
