Anyone see it? And spare me the "no because they suck" posts. Thx.

I actually thought it was a decent performance. Better than most late show performances anyways. They played "Evil."

i've never been much of a fan of theirs for a multitude of reasons, but i watched it anyhow, figuring i'd give it/them another shot.
having said that, i thought it was terrible. live music sometimes, but not always, doesn't translate well on tv. whether or not this was the case has no bearing on the fact that i thought the song was awful.
i will never understand the hype around this band. ever.
terrible.

Well to me it didn't sound much different than the CD version, except it had more "live" sounding drums. So, if you don't like the CD version, you're probably not going to like it live - as you've proven.

I think they're overhyped too. But I don't think they suck.

I like how you did that.

I'm not a fan. I didn't think their performance was great or anything, but I liked it much more than I thought I would. Not enough to make me want to give them another listen, though.

I like Interpol, but I thought the music sounded exceptionally bad on letterman. The performance was fine, but the sound was horrible. The guitars sounded dull and thin, and the bass sounded like shit.

I dunno who to blame - the band and their techs, or the Late Show sound techs...

Not that I even really care.

I think it has something to do with playing on television -- I distinctly remember the first time I heard Garbage on television (MadTV), and they sounded like crap, despite being a band made up primarily of producers.

That's why I don't ever watch performances on these late night shows. They sound horrible.

I have to disagree. I think most of them sound good. I also don't have to pay to get in, pay $5 to get a beer, wait in line at bathrooms, find a sitter, or catch a cab home, and I can see 2/3 bands in one night in under 15 minutes if I tape them

i got angry when i saw this post, because i thought i must have missed the show, and then i realised that i'll be able to see it in around a months time due to my locale.
