Could have picked any track off this album, since they're all strong. One of the angriest albums ever, it completed the jolting transformation of the group from synth to industrial metal. An eye-and-door opener for so much of what was to come, even if what-was-to-come-industrial didn't always measure up.

So many groups have imitated and emulated over the years, it's remarkable the rage and propulsion are as strong as ever.
--------------

eyes open
empty as halos
he comes for me
deity

help- what's the matter?
looking for someone?
he comforts me
deity

resurrection
coming in stereo
if you say so
he comes for me

let's pray
to tv divinity
he covets me
deity

resurrection
coming in stereo
if you say so
deity

resurrection
coming in stereo
if you say so

That album is personal favorite of mine. Blistering in it's intensity, it was a gateway for all things not mainstream to me.

Al needs to relisten to this and start doing something else musically. He's been in a serious rut for awhile now.

I loved this album when it first came out, and yes, "Deity" was always one of those songs you could crank in the car while driving 50 mph over the speed limit.

Unfortunately, Al never seemed to grow from this period, as I always felt like the subsequent albums sounded like rehashed "Land of Rape and Honey" and "A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Taste."

Weird. I just listened to The Land of Rape and Honey yesterday for the first time in probably five years. "Deity" is a classic, but there are a ton of good songs on there. Unfortunately, there's only so much you can do with that style, so their albums after that sound like more of the same.

'Scarecrow' is the best Ministry song ever IMO.

I was more of a "Mind" guy, but this was definitely a fav. in early high school.

I've had an odd compulsion to listen to that and "In case..." recently. I'm actually in a pretty good mood these days, so this kinda surprises me...

I've only heard the version from In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up. "Stigmata" is cooler, especially when he starts his "fuck everything" rant.
