If I knew that, maybe I could quit gnawing off my own some day. And the bad part is that I don't just stop with my fingernails -- I really go to town on stray cuticles, too. My fingers are a MESS!!!

I may have to defer to Yail Blore on this one.

The good news is "like-like." The bad news is "Jenelle" is actually a tranny named Roland.

I've known a coupla fruitcakes at my job, but I'm fully certain that Jenelle is not one of them. Otherwise, where's the Adam's Apple? I mean, you can't surgically reduce those, without going all the way to the other side, no?

It was more that I was wondering when the Answer Man would be back. Red and I had bumped this thrice this AM, but you weren't responding.

So, question: do you post exclusively from home, still, or are you obnerating from work as well?

He/she didn't reduce his/her Adam's Apple. You just can't see it, because he/she enlarged his/her throat through rather unconventional non-surgical (though EXTREMELY INVASIVE) means. Let's just leave it at that.

Mostly from work, actually. Monday mornings are always very busy for me, which resulted in my delayed response. Sorry about that.

what is considered "workplace-inappropriate" clothing?

what the tactful way of telling someone they dress like shit?

how do you contain your rage when you're working with self-described "creative types" when there's not a goddamned creative bone in their body?

Hot chicks in parkas.

"You dress like poop."

Serenity now, insanity later.

Seriously though, Dana...the best rule of thumb on "workplace-inappropriate" is the old "If you have to ask whether or not this is appropriate to wear to work, it's probably not." As for tactfulness, you should simply suggest more "professional" attire. And when it comes to rage control, I have found the best way to minimize outburst potential is to implement a relentless campaign of avoidance. If the person in question is headed toward your desk, grab your handset and feign an important phone call, etc.

No, unless it's VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRY gradual. I used to not wear glasses, but now I do, so my vision is at least slowly diminishing. And in related news, my palms only have slightly-perceptible stubble.

Actually, I've been just as curious as you to learn the answer to this, so I just did a little research...

http://www.spreadshirt.com/shop.php?op=article&article_id=1271244

http://www.deadspin.com/sports/whimsy/get-away-from-carl-monday-voyeurs-180682.php

Apparently, he's a voyeuristic investigative reporter in Cleveland. I would advise DayStar to lower her blinds STAT!

Here's Wikipedia's entry...

Quote:
Carl Monday is an investigative reporter who works for WKYC-TV in Cleveland, Ohio. He is particularly known for the attention he brings to repeat DUI offenders and the law enforcement and judicial officials who are unwilling to punish them severely. Thus far in his career he has won 30 regional Emmy Awards. His name was initially an on air name, but became his legal name in "1972 [or] 1973."

In late May of 2006, his investigative report on the viewing of on-line pornography in Cleveland-area public libraries drew widespread attention on the Internet, with numerous sites posting a link to the video clip. In the report, he confronted a man who was caught on camera pleasuring himself while viewing pornographic images, although he drew criticism on his blog for the sensationalist coverage and humiliating the man and his family.

Bob, your research has delivered.

As is, I was at the ballpark on Monday, watching Milwaukee wallop the Pirates 12-8 -- the game got a bit out of hand in the seventh, true -- and though I couldn't get my text of "you're with me, leather" on the scoreboard in the fourth, another loyal Deadspin reader did get "carl monday, stay away from me" on to the big board. I was right proud, and couldn't help but laugh for the whole next half-inning. America delivers!

What are your thoughts on Bush?

I'll resist the temptation to go with the obvious "Booger" (from Revenge of the Nerds) joke, and simply say that my opinion of him today is far less than it was before he took office. That being said, I also don't think he's the worst President ever, nor do I subscribe to any of the hyperbolic rantings of the extreme left comparing him to Hitler and such.

The bottom line is that from day one he has surrounded himself with people whose tactics and motives are questionable, and by seemingly taking their advice as gospel for more than six years without wavering, he now has no one but himself to blame for the fact that the general public's impression of him is one of a dim-witted puppet controlled by the far right.

I don't think he's a bad person, nor an overly stupid one. He's just not proven to be either good enough or brilliant enough to effectively lead the free world. I hated Reagan a lot more in my late teens and early twenties than I do Bush now. I'm more disappointed in Bush than anything...though that disappointment has blossomed into irritation over the years.

Here's Chris Matthews discussing similar views on Imus recently, but I don't feel it warrants its own thread. Also, some more conservative blogs I read are labelling this as "unhinged ranting" or "jawdropping". I think it's pretty damn good. There is also an audio link if you don't feel like readin'.
