TOD - It Was There That I Saw You
Radiohead - Everything In Its Right Place
Wilco - I Am Trying To Break Your Heart
Flaming Lips - Fight Test
Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #1

I take this without more research.

From the poll, Spoon

All come to min, but in my opinion, the greatest opener of the 2000's is...

"Our Love" - Rhett Miller

Good call on Iron Woman, GREAT call on Our Love, but the real answer is "Last Time" by Ike Reilly

I actually was going to include that in the poll, but pulled it at the last second.

This or the first song on the Arcade Fire.

From the list, I'll take "Mass Romantic" barely edging out Spoon.

I'm not even going to choose one of these...

I like the songs, but none really set the mood for the ensuing album - I mean, "Notorious Lightning" might not be the best song Bejar's ever put together, but at least it tells you what the rest of the album is going to be like...

Not sure if any of the albums those come from strike a singular mood/style for an opener to introduce...There's a difference between "best song to open an album" and "best song that's #1 on the tracklist"

A few better/easy answers from myself (besides "Notorious") from the 21st century would include:

"Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels)" - Arcade Fire
"One Step Inside..." - Notwist
"Since K Got Over Me" - Clientele
"Black Shuck" - The Darkness
"Umbrella" - Dntel
"Up All Night" - The Double

and, my personal choice:
"Question is Complete" - Aereogramme

although Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground is so solid it scares me. especially the video. Jack White might as well be God and Satan wrapped into one Radcliffesque Stouffer's packaging.

I'm serious.

You're all actually wrong.

This isn't a matter of opinion, the correct answer is 'Untitled' by Interpol

A resounding "None of the above".

Sorry, but you know me.

...but the White Stripes is the best out of that lot.

Here are five that I would choose:

Daft Punk Is Playing At My House – LCD Soundsystem
One More Time – Daft Punk
New Born - Muse
You and Me- Delays

Or probably the real winner:

Quay Cur – the Fiery Furnaces (10:25)
