Surprised to see Junior Boys, even if it is good, but if they don't also include Postal Service than... Loved seeing Primal Scream get up there quite high as it never has been talked about that much, more later.

I like Stylus more than PFM now. I'm gonna take a stab at their top 5..

Stankonia
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
Kid A
Original Pirate Material
and taking a wild guess:
Blueprint

Yeah the Scream are one of my favourite bands, but Screamadelica seems to have been tagged as their 'classic', even though Vanishing Point and XTRMNTR are much better (imo, of course)

Some good guesses, and i'll eat my hat if Kid A doesn't make it when they have Amnesiac. I have a feeling at least some of these will make it

Nellie McKay and ( )? Woo hoo!!!

Like a lot of the top 20 guess. Expecting some White Stripes and Strokes in there as well. Bewilderbeast, maybe? Franz? Kanye?

I actually expect both Madvillain AND Ghostface in the top 20.

The New Pornographers should be replaced with any Ted Leo album.

Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone? is arguably the most substantive pop album to be released in the past decade, full of quirky personality and inspiring hooks.

yikes.

Good catch. This should be replaced with Animal Collective's Sung Tongs. The description can stay, except for the word "quirky."

I hope Neon Golden makes the top 20--I kind of doubt it, though.

inclusion of much from 2004 in the Top 20...would render this list pointless. agree/disagreee?

i mean, it's cool and all, and maybe serves to highlight some underrated records - () - but it's not unlike those "top 10 songs ever, right now" lists we all make from time to time.

OK, pointless wasn't the word i was looking for.

but still. ineffective maybe?

i mean, i'm much happier reading this content than, say, Pitchfork, but the place for this kind of list still seems more appropriate in a forum like this one, than a published feature.

I understand the point you were making. It's just not as tried and true -- we just did a 2004 list, now we're going to include some of those exact same entries in the 2000-2004 list?

PS When the L did Manitoba become Caribou, and why?

the answer to your question utilizing the better part of Pitchfork: http://pitchforkmedia.com/news/04-10/08.shtml

The best thing about XTRMNTR is the artwork and lack of vowels. Vanishing Point is their best LP by some distance.

I have a question regarding M83. Are they an instrumental band or do they have vocals. Everytime I hear a sample of their music, it's only instrumental.

No offense to Ted, but PUT DOWN THE KRYLON, hAQ.

I respectfully disagree.

They do have vocals, however not very audible. The new record that comes out the 25th is much more vocal laden.

Oh yeah, I have the single version (released about a year before the album version saw light) of that so I keep forgetting it's on there.
