to be honest, i spend a lot of time searching for new and interesting artists, from every genre pretty much. i love hearing something new and different. i spend nights [after my wife goes to sleep usually] listening to everything, and we listen to music all day at work.

Yeah, that's probably one of my favorite things as a music lover. Looking for and finding new music. I love listening to samples online or CD samplers and then going shopping. It's time consuming but it's really a lot of fun.

Leonard Cohen. I've been listening to I'm Your Man and Songs of... a lot lately.

Also, Echo and the Bunnymen Crocodiles and The Clean Compilation.

I've been searching high and low for this, and no luck. :x Care to share, pretty please with sugar on top?

Some bands that I've been digging into as of late: The Bravery, The Joggers, The Vibration, The Cassettes, The Fall, Longwave. (damn, so many "The" bands!)

In heavy rotation in the iPOD lately....

1. Mastodon -- Leviathan... Stunning... El Guapo , Sketch and any other fans of the heavier side must bow to this!
2. The Frames -- Burn the Maps ... get ready world... great great disc. I think Feb 8th US release.
3. Midnight Movies s/t. Loving this more every day.
4. My Bloody Valentine -- Isn't Anything
5. The Zutons -- Who Killed the Zutons?!

I have been meaning to look into this after the CMJ year-end props. Thanks for the push.

I've been coming back to the Arcade Fire a lot lately. Other than that, I've been a bit bored with music lately.......I need something new.

I have to put a qualifier on that Mastodon -- I listen to a lot of metal, and I don't really "get" Mastodon. I bought Remission after it got a lot of props in 2003, and...well, I won't say I was disappointed, but really, that's the word. It's just not best-of-year material. It's good, and I'm keeping it, it's just that I've heard a lot more better metal. Maybe it's "metal for indieheads who otherwise mostly hate metal". Or sumpin.

I'm not saying "don't get it", I'm saying "listen before you buy".
