I have one, but its way cooler than any gift I have gotten, and two of my groomsmen post here (I knew them LONG before we all showed up here at dorknet.dork.com) so, I will not be sharing.

I will say that you should know your friends, and they should know you well enough to have an idea of what they would like.

i.e. - if y'all all like golf get em something golf related, etc...

i got a grooming kit once, and would have prefered scotch. not a big bottle, but enough. just enough.

we gave cufflinks that my wife made at ours. i think that i'm the only one that wears cufflinks, but i also paid for their hotels and tux rentals, so fuck those guys.

Should they all be the same or just get individual gifts for each?

I got my men that Love-God-Murder Johnny Cash box in 2000. Get something cool, not some predictable shaving kit horseshit. Treat it as a gift-giving holiday, not a high school graduation, and your buddies will be happy.

I'm a groomsmen and not a groom, but I am pitching in to get the groom a kick ass kegerator. I hadn't even thought of getting a groomsmen gift.

My brother got me Marvin the Martian bubblebath that was so obviously bought at a convenience store at the very last minute.

Nobody has gotten a worse groomsmen gift than that.

The only time I have been asked to be a groomsmen, I was eliminated once my friend and his wife decided to only have one attendant. I'd probably prefer something like a fancy flask filled with some top shelf Irish Whiskey or Single Malt scotch or a German Beer boot, since I collect beer glasses.
I'd love some sort of music or film boxset, but alot of my longtime friends have much different taste than myself and might be weary of buying me something like that.

two of my guys got these phat home brewery kits, 3 got a full day of golf, to and from the course in a limo, and a grill/drinkathon, and my best dude got a $100 music store gift cert. i really didn't want to get him a fucking gift card, but there was absolutely nothing else he wants/needs, and being a musician, he would use this easy, which he already has. i wanted him to put it toward a new amp. and i paid for his tux.

I was a bridesmaid in a wedding this past April, and all the groomsmen got personalized 'branding irons' for branding steaks and such.

I got a wallet and a 5 minute dance solo (to Herbie Hancock's "Rockit") at the last wedding I went to.

If you're not getting individual gifts, do the name-engraving thing.

just make it something personal- the way I see it, if you cant come up with something tailored to your groomsmen then they shouldnt be in the wedding party.

Like maybe its time to give your porn stash away to the groomsmen who is still single. or the naked pics of your ex-girlfriends

Paying for the tuxes is standard man, it shouldnt take the place of a gift (which doesnt have to be expensive but personal) unless I can also say, hey my gift to you and your bride is being here
