The Smiths' debut album was released one year prior to my birth, to the day.

Gin Blossom's Dusted was released one year prior to my sister's birthday, to the day.

The Smiths connection is almost cooler than being born on Kurt Cobain's 18th birthday. Just because I don't like Nirvana that much.

When Kurt Cobain was eighteen, he was still rocking Quarterstaff.

Elvis Costello's backing band on "My Aim Is True," Clover, turned out to be Huey Lewis and the News. Love that one.

The guitar riff on The Stone Roses 'Waterfall' (recorded 1989) sounds almost exactly the same as the guitar riff on Simple Minds 'Changeling' (recorded 1979).

Both tracks were recorded by producer John Leckie.

1890: While resisting wrongful arrest Sitting Bull, the legendary Sioux chief, was killed by police, in South Dakota
1939: In Seaford, Delaware, Nylon commercially produced for the first time
1964: Maple Leaf' formally adopted as the symbol for the Canadian national flag
1982: Reputed to be 'Robin Hoods' tree, the 'Major Oak' in Sherwood forest, is fitted with a fire alarm
1989: Panama declares war on the United States

While searching Yahoo for my birthday, this is what I found about it.
The death of Sitting Bull, the Canadian Maple leaf and the Panamanian conflict are all pretty interesting tidbits.

1974 - The Cleveland Indians attempt an ill-advised ten cent beer promotion for a game against the Texas Rangers at Cleveland Municipal Stadium. Cleveland forfeits 9-0 after alcohol-fueled mayhem and violence spreads from the stands onto the field.

President Reagan was shot on my sixth birthday (march 30, 1981) though I remember it quite clearly: I was having a rollerskating party and this woman came in, was very upset, and my mom had to kind of comfort her. I was probably the only kid there who even knew who the president was. (At this point in my life, I had already mailed a letter to President Carter)

I am related (through marriage) to Abe Sapperstein -- founder of the Harlem Globetrotters.

My mom witnessed the birth of rock & roll, firsthand, hanging out, as a little girl in the lobby of Chess Records studios, on Chicago's South Side in the 1950's.

Dr. Pepper was originally (and probably still is) flavored with prune juice. Hence, the DOCTOR Pepper.

This incident, among a lot of others, is documented in Seasons in Hell, a hilarious account of the first couple seasons of the Texas Rangers.

Our b-days are only a day apart...Reagan getting shot happened the day after my 15th birthday. I was home from school because I'd put a nail thru my foot on my birthday ( wheeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!! ) . I'd had about enough of laying around, watching soap operas when the "Special Report" came on with the news.

in "shoeless joe", the book upon which "Field of Dreams" was based the James Earl Jones character is JD Salinger. the author got the idea when he saw that JD wrote a short story using his fathers name.

After hearing Mark Knopfler's "Boom, Like That" I read up on McDonald's owner Ray Kroc and learned he was a sumbitch of the highest proportion.
