I have that t-shirt but have never worn it, way too big and I’m a small boy. In the back it reads
primal scream.
A story but only a quarter of what happened. I also saw this show and it was one of the biggest parties that I have ever been to. It was at the Hollywood Palladium, which holds 4,500 people I believe, and the stars came out to play at this sold out show. By stars, I mean other rock bands, and a bunch from the UK with the date being Sat. March 7, 1992. It was a blast, as you could imagine, and everybody was wasted, or so it seemed, including the band. They also had Denise Johnson with them and had a grand old time on stage. It was a very special night as everything was just working with a special electricity in the air. After the show a DJ came on and they started pumping the place with nitrous oxide. See around this time the summer of love with raves were happening all around Los Angeles. Les was putting on raves called
Double Hit Mickey and was hired by Goldenvoice because he was so good at it. Perfect timing and he seem to have everything to do with that but was never at another event that did the nitrous thing. I had the time of my life in Los Angeles and so glad that I grew up and lost my mind here.
So
Screamadelica will always be number one. That night along with a lost weekend out at Joshua Tree where the desert was breathing along with "Inner Flight". Also that weekend made the Boo Radleys come into focus, but now I’m digressing. So even though
Vanishing Point might be a better album, life experiences take over.
I also saw them on the
Give Out... tour twice and is a better story. Last time I saw them was for
XTRMNTR at the world famous Fillmore in San Francisco, a very different kind of show than before.
If you get a chance, new album in 2005, see Primal Scream live as it's a lot of fun.
