Went to day two of the Capitol Hill Block Party in Seattle yesterday. Saw a ton of bands. Impressions:

The Fleet Foxes - only caught the end of their set, but very impressed. Great harmonies and catchy tunes.

Smoosh - also impressive. 12 and 14, you say?

Silversun Pickups - not a huge fan, though I think part of the problem was crappy sound.

Speaker Speaker - by numbers punk, but pretty good at that and the members were quite young.

Minus the Bear - I got the idea pretty quickly. Not bad, not great.

Black Angels - also only caught the end of their set, but I really liked it. Part of that direct line that runs Doors --> White Light/White Heat --> Echo & The Bunnymen --> Jesus & Mary Chain --> Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Six Organs Of Admittance - only saw a bit of their set, but pretty cool.

Common Market - again only saw a bit of the set, but fun stuff. Live hip-hop is always fun.

Magnolia Electric Co. - the only band I'd seen before. I was right in front of Molina, so I think I enjoyed this set better than the one back in January.

Murder City Devils - I only heard a bit, but they sounded good. But I had been out all day so I wanted to get home.

Actually, they apparently played Sunday night too, so I guess it was a two-off.

Forgot to mention that Magnolia Electric Co. played a cover of the Classics IV's "Spooky" and then worked in his own "Riding with the Ghost" into the cover. Pretty cool.

Nope. I think they just played one of the after-parties.

According to the schedule on the website, they just played the Saturday afterparty.
