I don't get people. You go to a concert to have a good time and assholes take your life for it.

Korn fan dies
Man loses his fight for life after concert brawl

A Korn fan who was allegedly attacked at a concert in Atlanta has died.

Andy Richardson was officially declared dead at 2pm US time yesterday (August 1), reports mtv.com

The 30-year-old was allegedly attacked by two unidentified men at the band's HiFi Buys Ampitheatre show on Sunday (July 30) after he asked them to be careful not to hurt his pregnant girlfiend and a mentally ill child with him.

According to his friend Edgar Arellano, the men left the area before they returned and assaulted Richardson.

Arellano added: "We were all enjoying the concert, we were having a good time, until these two guys came around. He was unconscious. He had blood all over his face when I picked him up."

Richardson's mother Gloria has urged the men to turn themselves into the police.

She added: "Can you imagine your child goes to a concert and be killed for it, because of people out there fighting to have a quote unquote good time? I'm very angry."

The band have made no official statement over the death.

highly inappropriate, but still somehow a valid statement. also, why take a mentally ill child to a korn concert? anyway, this is pretty bad, but these unfortunate situations do happen every few years.

I heard about this yesterday. I really, really hope those guys get a chance to experience "the art of the shiv".

And Korn should permanently break up and give all their money to this family.

Wow. :(

I'm just curious what the dudes were doing to make Richardson say something in the first place.

This is horrible news.

And for everyone who said that you shouldn't have the kid near the mosh pit anyways...let it be known that at this venue you are NOT ALLOWED TO MOSH! Most places can't handle the insurance problems if someone gets hurt, these kids were apparently fighting this guy because he asked them to stop doing what they shouldn't have been doing in the first place.

and shame on security for not coming to the aid of the situation sooner, they should have taken everyone who was moshing and thrown them out like they were supposed to.

well, its not really korn's fault so i dont think they should break up, but yeah, a little cash wouldnt hurt.

Read about this yesterday in the AJC but dude was hanging on at that point.

I'll say this, I can remember three mosh pits back in the 90's--two of them at this venue (Alice in Chains and Ministry at seperate Lollapalloozas, the other was Ministry at a really scary warehouse venue) where I can't believe that someone wasnt killed. And security can roll out all the roided up behemoths they want--short of shooting a couple of people as an example (old school Eastern Bloc-style) you aint stopping a pit that big and violent.

Of course it wasn't their fault, but it wouldn't hurt if Korn finally called it quits, either.

That's just a lapse in security.

When I used to see Headstones in concert, any time the lead singer Hugh would spot anyone shoving someone else or making trouble, he'd single them out and tell security to kick them out.

I think it is their fault. It was probably korn's sucking so bad that put these 2 dudes in such a rage fo anger that this unfortunate situation came about.

I say put these dudes in one of those "no survivors" pits. I've drunkenly hopped into two pits in my life. Almost got my jaw broken in one, and had to get down and roll out of the other.

This a huge outdoor ampitheatre though with seats in the front and then the lawn in the back. If its like it used to be, the pit usually breaks out right at the front area of the lawn. Its dark back there and I cant imagine any sane security goon thinking he could get in there and stop anything from going on.

As a person that hires and handles concert security staffs and works at an arena. An attack like this should have never lasted so long to result in a fatality. We have ushers, cops and normal concert security people monitoring the crowd and while a fight occassionally happens, it is never more than a couple swings. Usually a bystander or two will try to break it up while someone notifies the cops, I'm kind of surprised no one else around them tried to intervene or stopped the individuals from leaving.
As for moshing and such, alot of stuff is forbidden, but most places allow a reasonable amount to occur at metal shows. It's kind of like saying weed isn't allowed at a rap or jam band concert. We don't let people freely bring it in, but nobody really tries to stop anyone from smoking a joint in the crowd.

I think the least surprising part of this story is that mentally ill children are found at Korn concerts.

Well then the question is why a pregnant woman and a handicapped child would choose to stand there as opposed to anywhere else on the huge lawn.

They had seats, I believe, which just happened to be at the back of the seating section next to the lawn.

But if they had seats and the hoodlums were on the lawn, they'd still be separated by, if not some form of barricade, a row of seats at least.

This doesn't make any sense to me.

Korn's debut is still better than anything Collective Soul ever put out (x10)
