Ok here is what I am thinking so far:

18. posthumus American Analog Set
19. Gar Bad Rolling Stones
1. rparis74 Go-Betweens (changed my mind)
14. splates Buzzcocks
4. miceelf Cocteau Twins
21. so real Flaming Lips
2. radcliffe Giant Sand
22. dumpjack Non Decade Neil Young
17. Saint Patrick Richard Buckner

Need to decide on the selections of these, but based on widespread popularity of some of these bands I am thinking:
12. bort (maybe Inspiral Carpets)
11. alongwaltz (maybe Eels or Guster)
8. z (maybe Big Sandy or John Reis)
13. shiv (Braniac or Hefner)
6. drinky (Can)
3. billyg (Lee Hazlewood)
16. Red (Liz Phair or YLT)
9. bgl3 (Feelies or Connells or Coltrane?)

Need choices from:
5. daystar
7. ish
15. f4df
20. pumachik
23. Oldbullee

I'll get cracking on this asap. Should be a fun exercise to find around a dozen 'representative' Neil tracks.

The problem is that the ones I could slay on, nobody wants.

Lisa Loeb?
Counting Crows?
The Lowest Of The Low?
Headstones?

I could do any of these:
Dylan, Lucero, Waylon Jennings, or maybe Bluerunners.

And I just realized how useless I am in this. My picks feel so mainstream and unnecessary.

I would be up for this, but not via YSI. When I do these things, I always hit the vinyl for b-sides and rarities, so it's got to get burnt regardless, that and I've only got a dial-up.

That said, artists with enough of a catalogue to make a mix worthwhile and of whom I have just about complete discographies of include:

The Fleshtones
The Damned
The Go-Betweens
Sensational Alex Harvey Band
Robyn Hitchcock/Soft Boys (through '90, he sucked balls after that)
The Saints
Stan Ridgway/Wall of Voodoo
Martin Newell/Cleaners From Venus
The Jazz Butcher
999
The Wedding Present
Julian Cope/Teardrop Explodes
The Jam
The Monochrome Set
Adam Ant
Psychedelic Furs
The Johnnys/Spencer P. Jones
The Chills

I actually thought of these two as well. You should definitely do the latter, a representative mix would be good to have. I was thinking of doing a CC one for myself recently, they're one of my favourites.

I think a good Dylan songs on bad albums mix or a Waylon mix of almost any kind wouldrule
