For my money this is my fave stones pic. It's an album cover, but its awesome.

Yeah, this is a GREAT thread! I voted for Cash flipping the bird, because that's what I had in mind before I even opened the thread to see the poll options.

The best album cover of all time is Who's Next, with London Calling a very close second.

This thread rocks, but where's blood covered iggy?
( too lazy/incompetent to find/post)

During the mid-90's there was a shot in the Austin American Statesman of an outdoor show (out by Buda..that cow pasture..anyone?) and there's a girl in a 90's grunge universal babydoll dress and Docs about 15 feet in the air above the crowd in front of the stage, having been launched from a bedspread. Wish I had that photo. I was at the show, I think it was a HORDE fest or somesuch.

Southpark Meadows???

That's where I saw The Police, UB40 and Joe "King" Carrasco back in November 1983.

bingo, thankyou...now if we could find that shot.

I have seen so many shows there, I knew to head for the can as soon as Dave Matthews took the stage (he played every festival that ever toured in the nineties, no?)

I was at this festival. It was at PinkPOP, which is a music festival held in Langraff (sp?) NL. I was stationed at AFCENT (Allied Forces Central Europe), a NATO sub-command and when tho this festival three times. It was held something like 20 minutes from where I lived... I love the look on the cameraman's face

Best thread since CMJ days. Although it's interesting how so many of these classic pics are 30 years old.

I am a goofus in that I can't figure out how to post a pic that doesn't have its own URL. But I always thought the following pic (link to Wolfgang's Vault) of the Who at Winterland, 1975, was one of the greatest rock and roll pics ever. Townshend tosses his guitar twenty feet in the air, like the apes tossing the bone in 2001:Space Odyssey, and with similar atavistic, ritualistic power.
