I have never lived anywhere that didn't have central heat/AC. I guess I have it good. Our power bill was $170 this month. Serves me right for keeping the AC on 71 at night.

damn, you have it made. add $75 to that and you're in my shoes.

my shoes suck this summer.

electric bills for beachy:
house ( a/c only in bedroom 400BZD=200USD)
restaurant ( fans..maybe 12-14 of em..700bzd=350USD)

I really want full house A/C but may just wait until after I get my new house in Mexico and this current hurricane season blows by first.

I only have a wall unit and I don't leave it on during the day. I ain't payin' for twelve hours of cooling off a place I ain't in. So, it's pretty hot for an hour or two when I get home.

so should I point out that if you just turned the thermostat up while you're at work, it wouldnt be so hot when you get home? Also, you are putting a lot of stress on your unit trying to make it cool down such a hot room, negating any possible energy savings.

Sorry Joe, you lose, brother. You fucking lose. :P

I don't think you understand my friend. There is no such thing as a "thermostat" on this wall unit. This wall unit has an on and an off switch and a high and a low option. The low option does not work. Trust me, it runs at a constant rate and works no harder if it is 800 degrees in here or if it is 55 degrees, it just runs. That's why it takes TWO HOURS TO COOL OFF!

We're talkin' stone age technology here. None of that fancy schmancy hip 21st cetury shit you got down in the "ATL". Joe = poor = cheap housing = 1960's wall unit with nothing but an on switch.

Hahhahaa. Y'all suck. The air is blowing so hard in here that I have dairy products sitting out on the counter.

Me no central air either. But I broke down and bought a window unit for the bedroom on Sunday. But now the "burn your balls off" front has apparently gone eastward, so I won't need it until July of next year. It's like 68 out right now.

That was a really nice three days though. Like being in the south again.

When I was in college, we had a place that just had wall units. I had the small room, and I bought a new one, and would run it on high and the coldest setting at all times, keeping the door closed with a towel under it. It was so cold at night I had to use my feather decka. one of the best summers of my life.

Oh, and our power bill was cresting $200, FEMGAR said it had something to do with me putting the air on 63 when she leaves
