Merida is a city of just around 1 million, at the tip of the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico. It was established around 1560, much of its core is preserved and historic. It is crazy cheap to visit/live there, excellent medical has made it a recent hot spot for retiring Americans/Canadians, realestate is still silly cheap. I will be buying a place there soon. It's very much reccommended by yours truly, and I saw some great music while there, all sponsored by the city.

yeah, I did a google of merida mexico real estate and came up with tons. the idea is to buy in the centro, historic homes like the ones in all my pics, but once inside, just dramatic; 16foot ceilings, 12' craftsman doors, etc. 35-50k USD lock stock, then you get an architect to oversee modern rennovations for another 25k---? to make it plush...end result, a sweet "vintage" pad and a real nice investment, since we're ahead of the curve for even having this convo. Oh, and recall when the wife fell in Jan? So we went to see the doctors there, an office visit, meds and consultation..less than $60USD...now, come on! this is part of the reason for all the gringos headed that way. Swanky dinner for two with wine, after dinner drinks, etc...50-60 USD. And nobody goes out until like 9pm for dinner etc. restaurant is packed at midnight, because everyone ascribes to a siesta style of life there. I loved it, man.

Nice photos man.

Is that cactus the night-blooming cereus?
