I'm really stretching for thread topics here, I realize, but I can't bring myself to weigh in on the minimum wage issue...

Anyway my current best two out there:

"Big Papi" - David Ortiz (I'm not a Red Sox fan or anything, I just think thats a cool sounding name)

"Smoke" - Tony Stewart (ditto, just sounds cool as hell)

This prolly falls under a different umbrella, But I miss all the Chris Berman-isms during the Baseball season.

Edgar "I don't practice" Renteria
Walter "Three Blind" Weiss
Pat Mahoomes "Where the heart is"
Scott "Supercalifragilisticexpealla" Brosius

I know there are plenty more out there....

Someone's nicknamed Tank, I think. If so, I like that one.

I love em too mark, I can only imagine the steam coming out of Bloor's ears, though at the mention of his nemesis, Berman.

What about when Mantle used to call Jim Bouton "Ass Eyes" that count?

Not so much a nemesis, I just think the guy is a talentless hump who ruins every broadcast he touches--how 'bout that?

It's top 5 but for me Hoosiers is the best ever followed closely by Rudy because pulling for the underdog never goes out of style.

My fave nickname is Eddie "Big Doogan" Perez.

A nickname given to him by his Braves teammates after spending a lot of time with him in the, ahem, locker room. (as told by John Rocker on a local radio station)

also, Pete Rose- Charlie Hustle and Iron Mike Tyson.

Yeah, I can see hating the guy. I feel the same way about Joe Morgan, although his knowledge level is considerably higher as a former player. Joe Morgan's favorite phrase - "He'll hurt you"....whatever.
As for Berman, I liked him for his 'color' during the baseball season, but hate him as the 'Swami' during football season. Another thing I can't stand about Berman is his undying love for the SF Giants. I live across the Bay and I f**kin hate the Giants.
