God thats a good song.

At this point, Josh Ritter would sweep both categories for me, although there is still a lot I havent heard. That JR disc is just excellent from beginning to end (B&S still serious contenders though)

i'd choose over and over by hot chip. crazy wore out it's welcome.

No kidding. Same here. I've bought a lot of fantastic stuff this year, but so far nothing is coming close to dethroning the Josh Ritter output.

I don't even remember what song was killing me this morning that I started this thread about.

The top one that comes to mind, however, is probably Yo La Tengo's Beanbag Chair.

I definitely remember hearing it on radio late last year, but The Gossip's Standing in the Way of Control is the sound of them nailing it.
