This is the new show from Brendon Small (from Home Movies) that's gonna air in August on Adult Swim. It's about a metal band and features a bunch of metal dudes (James Hetfield and Kirk Hammet from Metallica, Michael Amott from Arch Enemy, Jeff Loomis, Warrel Dane, and Steve Smythe of Seattle band Nevermore) in addition to Small himself, who's no slouch on the metal (I just found out he went to Berklee and is not ahsemed to say he still goes to Malmsteen shows).

Anyways, there's a the theme song

incidentally, the page has a bunch of the tracks from Home Movies and stuff that's generally pretty funny.

apparently he's also consulting on a movie called Lords of Chaos that's about Mayhem and the church burnings.

oh, and the cartoon "band" is sponsored by Gibson, Krank amps, Dunlop products.

the book Lords of Chaos is brilliant. one of the best books i've ever read. it's not just about Mayhem, but is an in depth view into the lives of some of Black Metal's most infamous players, and the violence, hatred, and idealism they're involved in.

i sure hope he's planning to do a documentary film, and NOT a "movie" about this book. that would be tragic.

hey Cotton, is there a link somewhere with info on the director?

Found more info on DETHKLOK from IGN:

So what in the heck is Dethklok? Well, we asked Brendon just that question, and this is what he had to say – "The show is basically about a (half-American/half Norwegian) metal band that is about a million times bigger than the Beatles. But a million times more dangerous and a millions times more stupid. This show promises violent murder. Violent violent murder. And metal."

Currently in pre-production for 20 episodes, they're currently shooting for a late-Spring launch – but that's still in flux. As Brendon put it, "We don't want to rush anything. We just want it to be f***ing funny and f***ing metal."

Here's a pic from it...

Here's a pretty funny interview with him about the show, the movie, metal in general, and...Ralph Macchio:

this aired for the first time last night, though the title has changed to "Metalocalypse" or something like that. It's pretty metal. I guess Hetfield and Hammett were on the show last night. Judging by the bumps, this show's gonna get completely ridiculous.

probably. they might even have it on the adult swim site. I know there's new onces for the next 7 weeks or so after this...

i don't know if this is the whole episode, but if it's at the top of the shows on the right of the player here:http://www.adultswim.com/adultswimfix/index.jsp

Pretty good...

Hope they expand upon the idea a bit more, though... Them characters need more fleshing out.

i thought last night's episode was pretty awesome. re-re-re-re-re-recording their album aboard a russian submarine.

the producer's bleeding eyes were key.

i just saw the segment on youtube where they do the one song show in the arctic circle. hot damn that's good.

brendon small rulz. this show is so tongue-in-cheek absurd that it almost transcends that kind of humor. i defy you to find a girl who genuinely likes this show.

my girlfriend is pretty into it, but then she's also a massive Home Movies fan.

Judging by the upcoming episode titles, it's just gonna get more and more out of control.

A buddy of mine writes for a local newspaper and does the entertainment section. Over the years, he became friends with one of the Adult Swim promo people, so he gets semi-regular packages of promos for the new stuff.

We watched the first two episodes (the ones that have now aired) a while back and were relatively unimpressed. I think it's mostly that the characters need fleshing out, as mentioned above. The entire grocery trip cracked me up, though. That's the kind of ridiculousness I'm looking for.

The good thing about my buddy's connection though is that he got a great Deathklock tour t-shirt. It's got all the cancelled tour dates (a la Spinal Tap and/or Billy and the Boingers) and all the cancellations are due to plagues and blood-related incidents. Pretty funny stuff.

The next promo he's supposed to get is Assy McGee and we're still trying to get them to hook him and I up with passes to see a preview viewing of the Aqua Teen movie. Apparently Bruce Campbell is hysterical in it.
