Anything personally recorded or distributed i.e. a band's cd they sell only at the show, etc.

there may be others, the rule is totally subjective and subject to modification (by me alone)

radiohead. even though i got the leak of the thom yorke solo, i went and picked up physical copy.

and also anything that's put out on emi (since i work there). i get kinda pissed when i see leaks of stuff from the label out on the internet but what can you do... i do it for other things as well.

generally if i really like an album, i'll support an artist and buy the actual cd when it comes out.

i've probably bought a half-dozen 7" singles this year. i am very pleased with them and will continue to go with vinyl over slsk in this regard for some time.

I end up buying most albums I like if I have a digital copy beforehand. But I tend to be a materialist, so I like having the physical product.

I'm much more diligent about picking up cds by Aus bands, and not leaving it as long as I might if I've got it a leaked/copied version, but that's because even if they're successful here, they're not really selling that much in the scheme of things since we're something like 1/15 the size of the US. Kinda like the local band loyalty I guess

i usually receive promos or download everything first, and then if i like it i definitely buy it.

i just don't have patience, so yeah, i'll even download shit from my fav artists to have a listen before it comes out.

This is what I do. With my fav artists, I'll generally do a very quick preview and not listen to the whole album. I'll want to have a little anticipation for the release date.

I've pretty much convinced record reps that I need all kinds of stuff at the station. Because you never know, somehow I might be able to slip that Sword song into the soft rock format. Honest, he says.

There's very, very little that I'll buy without downloading and listening to a few tracks first. There's just too much music out there; I can't risk spending money on something that sucks.

There are a few that I'll only download, won't buy. That includes EP's, guilty pleasure alternative albums (Third Eye Blind, Goo Goo Dolls, Better Than Ezra, etc.), and out-of-print stuff obviously. Just because I can't buy it/won't pay hundreds of dollars.

If I like, I buy, plain and simple. I like a lot.

I don't refuse to download anything, and some stuff I buy, some stuff I don't...sorry.

I also spend a shitload on records, concerts, and t-shirts so I feel it balances out.

like I love Neko Case, but I haven't paid for 3 of her records (1 was downloaded, 2 were promos)...but when she came to town I bought a ticket, a poster, and a CD... so do I feel bad? No.

No it really sucks and I come across like a professional robot. All the good promo rekkids wind up in the special Spoon Library.

Um...just in case the format ever gets better.

Man...

all I'm doing is quoting you tonight. Stop stealing my ideas before I get around to posting them already...
