Today I was running late for work until I heard the sirens of an ambulance behind me. After I let it pass I hitched a ride behind it on the expressway going 70 mph and went from being 30 minutes late to 15 minutes early. In a word, it was awesome. I was like an Israelite following Moses after he parted the Red Sea. Everyone should try this at least once in their lives.


It should be noted that I cranked The Smashing Pumpkins, "Today" on my cd player while doing this.

nice. i'm pretty sure that is illegal, but i know plenty of people who've done it. the most despicable instance was when my cousin's boyfriend jumped behind an ambulance to be on time for a fireworks show.

I had heard that if you follow a truck closely, you can draft off it. I tried this late one night, coming home drunk from a gig.

All was fine until another truck came up behind me and got right on my ass. I got the message & backed off. The first trucker must have called his buddy on the CB.

But no, never an ambulance. Maybe you could keep a bottle of water in the car so you would have crocodile tears streaming down your face. Everyone would think you were somehow involved w/ whatever was going on where the am'blance was headed.
