The new disc, Writer's Block is stellar! My gf just bought it off iTunes, and I'm digging the hell out of it.

RIYL: Swede/guitars/electro/60's pop hooks. Some songs have a Broken Social Scene feeling to them.

I couldn't figure out who Peter was, but Bjorn and John were obvious..I was thinkiing this was some youtube video of a Flushing Meadows locker room coke party.

He was talking about the record they released in 2005, Falling Out.

The new record, Writer's Block is the first album where all three dudes have songwriting duties.
RIYL: quirky, melancholic, catchy Swede indie-pop, whistling, Robyn Hitchcock (vocals on a few of the songs), Crowded House, Jesus & Mary Chain (guitar on "Object Of My Affection"), Broken Social Scene (atmosphere).

Ah okay, I missed that. I've only heard Young Folks.

Peter Bjorn and John Writer's Block (Wichita) ****

Arguably, it takes a Swede (or in this case, three of them) to combine 1980s synth pop, Motown and noisy guitar rock to tasteful effect. But PB & Js international debut bristles with excitement too. From the shaker-sprinkled perk pop, complete with whistling, of the single Young Folks to Up Against the Wall, which picks up where New Orders Temptation left off, these are thrillingly romantic songs, designed to be sung and swung along to.

SOPHIE HARRIS

Obners: Quit fucking around. Check this record out.

Those of you who dug Belle & Sebastian - The Life Pursuit will probably be into this.

One of the better albums I've heard this year.

I'd describe it as early Beatles meets Air meets The Walkmen but what the hell do I know?

Number 5 on my list for the year.

That's not even funny

Obviously I want to pay $10 for a 128 kbps rip with no album art

<-- limp dick here.

I like the album. It's great for having on as background noise when I'm at work and want to stab those around me.
