So I play the piano, but rarely do I even attempt the classical stuff, because mainly my skill just isn't there. Last Sunday Muse was on Subterranean on MTV2, and Matt suggested how he played classical dark pieces growing up. His one suggestion was some "Piano Concerto 3" by a name I just couldn't understand. I want some very dark, classical piano songs/pieces, please. If you can YSI, that would be even better. Thanks!

Hm. I'm going to have to think about this, I know I have some in my collection. Probably in the soundtrack section...

I second Debussy.

Not familiar with Satie though.

Was it Rachmaninoff? His Piano Concertos 1-4 are pretty brooding, plus stuff like "Isle Of The Dead."

I can never remember the names of classical pieces or I'd be a bigger help.

When I typed Concerto 3 into Soulseek Rach's name came up and that's what I grabbed. Thanks for the replies, guys.

Don't know if he would be considered all that dark but I'd try Philip Glass.

what?

why hasn't some girl snatched you up yet?

(can't help you with the classical pieces... mogwai's got a lot of great moody piano parts, but i'm sure that's not what you're looking for.)

How about the haunting Erik Satie-ish piano-tinkler "Sentimenal Walk" from the film 'Diva' ? Very easy to play.

That isn't something I usually talk about because my skills aren't all that. Though, I do remember telling you I played the first time we met. You're right...I'm the ultimate catch though. J/K.

This means nothing. I'm lucky if I remember my name sometimes.
