The Smiths would be number one for me but, out of these two...

Shields pretty much said he stopped making music because he ran out of ideas, so on those grounds I'll go with NMH. Plus I just like NMH better.

I'd go with MBV for the visceral live show experience that I never got to see. Mangum can throw together just about any group of folks or tour solo and he's still full of magnetism and presence (like when he toured as part of Circulatory System back in '01), which is wonderful to see...but for me a live MBV would easily trump seeing Jeff do NMH songs, etc.

i don't get the gobs of praise showered upon my bloody valentine and think that the only great work by NMH is the A-side of aeroplane, but i love that first side. (although, if i could pick what MBV would play, it'd be a close call.)

I've never heard NMH, so MBV is my choice.

CLEARLY My Bloody Valentine. I probably wouldn't even see NMH if they toured again.

Wasn't there a pitchfork article a couple weeks ago saying Magnum was writing new material? I voted NMH. Loveless is a nice listen, but it never blew me away.

Was this before or after he wrote four new songs for Lost In Translation?

Also, he's doing some remixes or something for the new Marie Antoinette film.

I believe that was discredited as being another hoax.

It was after, but referring to before. Still, I wouldn't call those Lost in Translation tracks "new ideas." But they were ok.

NMH for sure. I discovered those cats way too late. Makes me wonder what else I'm missing right now...

i hate when this happens - finding some band 10-20 years after they've broken up and wondering, "who else?"
