As your main client/business.

Cotton, where's the pick of that dude from Pennsy who blows his brains out at a press conference?

I could delve deeper here, but let's just say that if after 17 months, you just don't fucking get it, you probably never will.

I hear ya, Senator.... I had a woman call me, trying to solicit business from us. She's with a reputable software company. She could NOT pronounce the city Abu Dhabi to save her life. In fact, she'd never heard of it. We had a follow up call not too long ago, and she slaughtered the pronunciation, and when I corrected her, she giggled. Giggles do not belong in the workplace, imo. To top it off, her name was Randi, yes, with an i.

She's clearly never watched or read Garfield.

No, no...this rage is much deeper. You expect the peons to be automatons who cannot respond to your query unless it is properly phrased, and enunciated, SLOWLY. Those people, were they not serving us in this capacity, would be prime candidates for "public health experiments."

I am talking about dealing with a smart, successful, person, who has reached some heights within the public realm, who, for all intents and purposes, will not or cannot remember things like: Who he has talked to, why he is calling them, or what he wants once he gets on the phone with them.

And things like: calling someone 14 times, finally getting them on the phone, AND COMPLETELY FORGETTING TO ASK THEM THE QUESTION YOU HAVE BEEN CALLING THEM TO ASK.

I understand, but from a slightly different perspective. I used to work with this guy who's getting paid crazy dollars for a job that I could do better than any other. He's basically a bullshit artist who gets by like remoras. He's also great at giving career advice, and repeatedly identifying with me on how "tough it is out there" and offers counsel on how I should steer my career. The deep, deep rage in me swells occasionally when I'm reminded of how well I could do in that position, yet I must wait until that old, fat fuck dies off before I can think about getting it.

I know EXACTLY what you mean.

Welcome to the corporate world, folks. There are always dumb-as-shit people around you that manage to make more than you, and stay longer than you. I can only be content with the fact that (a) they are dumb as dirt and therefore will never be part of my social circle, (b) people tend to talk about them badly behind their backs anyway, and (c) this is about the extent of their "glory" in life. It's no different from the tools you went to highschool with.

This is pretty much my world, but I'm the bullshit artist who sucks at his job, and people are starting to notice. I'm expecting a promotion into a better job i can suck at.

Like labels, the same thing goes for radio. You're better off assuming people don't know anything about music, really. Unfortunately.

I have to dumb down what I do so much and multitask behind the scenes so much, spreading myself thin, that most of the actual listeners don't know how much I know about music, let alone the schmoes in the business.

But I also understand that some of those musical morons know the ins and outs of things like repairing engines or cutting business deals, things I have no aptitude for.

It's the social morons who manage somehow to own or manage things that get to me.

If you think your job is full of idiots, you should try freelancing. Then you'll meet idiots from everyone else's job.

I'm compiling quotes for my next book "My Boss Is Murdering The English Language".

At our office, we have "Effectivity Dates" and we don't present things, we "give people sight to" things.

I'll start forwarding you the memos I get from my "superior" that are RIFE with sentences that make virtually no sense, rampant misspellings, & frequent usage of the phrase "Git R Dun".

I recently had to deal with clients who said the following about me:

1. "...is threatening"
2. "...is arrogant"
3. "...thinks she's the big cheese"
4. "...comes across as if people should kiss her feet"
5. "...doesn't return phone calls"
6. "...won't answer email"

Situations that prompted the above comments:

1. Stated I was threatening when client reported payroll late and informed him that there may be a possibility he had to wire funds to pay for his payroll and our services vs having them deducted automatically from his bank account.

2. According to the client, "other people have told me she's arrogant". This was after a manager was informed that the information she was utilizing was illegal and not in compliance with the law. She relayed the information to her employees, but apparently she felt the law didn't apply to her.

3 and 4. These made me laugh. "Big Cheese"..."kiss her feet"...really now. We're still uncertain as to why he made these comments. My supervisor tried to get an explantion, but the client wouldn't elaborate.

5. Apparently, I'm supposed to return phone calls that are made over the weekend. Even though, my voice mail says I'm not in the office and won't be returning until Monday.

6. Apparently, calling a client in response to an email does not equal answering email.

My clients are idiots sometimes. But as my boss often states -- NO BRAIN, NO HEADACHES.
