And I just listened to it yesterday at work! We're sending Karmic royalties to the Blue Nile.

Why hasn't somebody like Wes Anderson used a Blue Nile song in a movie and gotten them some actual monetary royalties?

There's a 1990 documentary about The Blue Nile called Flags & Fences which I've never seen. Supposed to have live performances and good interviews. I'll look around. Maybe I can find it streaming somewhere or downloadable.

Nice, Phil! I LURRRRRRRRVE this band. "Easter Parade" is such an understated yet powerful song.

When I was downloading rarities, there was one that was supposedly David Sylvian & The Blue Nile.

It wasn't. It was some off-key z-grade Erasure-sounding group.

If that was Sylvian, it wasn't good.

But you can't count on every filesharer to get the artists right on a tune.

I did find the instrumental version of "Automobile Noise" though. Called "Saddle the Horses." Pretty cool.

It's a shame that (if I remember right) two of the songs are at 128 kps, but that's all I could track down at the time. Listened to all the tracks and they sounded fine, though.

Want to do an Aztec Camera mix but have misplaced my Knife and Stray cds. That won't do. Will have to locate them.

If you don't have it, try to find the song "Breaking the Rules" from the Robbie Robertson album Storyville--the Blue Nile's the backing band.

srsly.

"Let's Go Out Tonight" could be one of the best songs i've ever heard. Has such a Roxy Music vibe....subtle and sullen.

Spoon, i owe you bigtime. This has been on repeat for the past hour.

Yeah I've been looking for that because I've got 13 tracks for a Vol 2 mix, including the Peter Gabriel/Richie Havens/Paul Buchanan track from Ovo.

I'll zip and sendspace the second mix after I find it.

Steve, notice the Robbie track is on the second mix, plus the Ricky Lee Jones track and the Gabriel Ovo performance.

Will have to upload Hats tomorrow, Dalen. As a somewhat drunken individual highly annoyed with the Red Sox right now, I'd probably screw it up. You don't accidently want a burn of Cats, probably.

Thanks for these. Blue Nile... one of the greatest, most unrecognized bands. I've seen them live twice... and like Peter Gabriel, his voice seemed impossibly better live. I was just slightly diappointed in the last "Happy at Last" or whatever it was called. Scots should be melancholy.

Dalen, here's Hats:

6 of the 7 tracks were on the mixes, all except "From A Late Night Train."

That version of "Easter Parade" with Rickie Lee Jones I put on one of the mixes was a b-side to "Headlights On The Parade."

I'll look around for the b-side singles to "Downtown Lights." Those were "The Wires Are Down" and "Halfway To Paradise."

And the b-side to one of the "Saturday Night" maxi-singles had a piece called "Our Lives" which had 3 parts to it ("Lost"/"Bolivia/"New York"). I'll see if I can find those too, if you want to create a sort of expanded version of Hats.
