I think if the US team plays like they did against everyone but Brazil during the exhibition games, they will smoke everyone. That said, they can't expect to annihilate teams like Argentina, Lithuania and even Puerto Rico without playing 110% and attempting to humiliate the other team.
Coach K and everyone on this team wants to crush everyone and prove once again that America dominates this game. I'd like for the USA to win the gold, but I'd enjoy watching them beat Argentina by 20+ points alot more.

Where did Australia get the green & yellow color scheme?

I know that, but where does it come from? I'm actually being serious for once. Ha.

I respect the people of Australia quite a bit, but to base your national color scheme off of a national flora is pretty weak and sort of a pansy thing to do. Granted the USA just ripped off our former colonial masters for our color scheme.

If Bogut and Newley both bring their A-games, y'all better watch out.

There aren't many/any players on the US team that will be able to guard Newley, especially if he's hot from beyond the arc. He's 6'7" but as fast as a point guard + deadly three point shooter + he can get up. Only problem is he probably barely weighs more than 175 pounds.

The US team has been using Jim Boeheim's renowned Syracuse Zone Defense at times during the exhibition. When they waxed Korea, that's all they did in the 2nd half. I'm pretty sure Lebron James, Kirk Hinrich or Joe Johnson can outplay Newley. Australia lost to China during exhibition play 63-1, while the USA beat China 119-73

We are a hot/cold team. Looking at our past results will tell you little. I'm not saying we are going to kick your asses, but i wouldn't be completely surprised if there was an upset.

What pisses me off so much is how much backward Bogut has moved since he entered the NBA. When he was last playing for Australia two years ago, he was being compared to Dirk Nowitzki more than Vlade Divac; handling the ball, shooting threes, crossing people over, and driving to the hoop, all while complementing it with his back-to-the-basket game.

Now he's slow and not very agile at all. He seriously used to be a pretty damn good three point shooter.

Also, CJ Bruton will shit all over your point guards.

Elton Brand, however, will be entirely unstoppable during the tournament, especially with the FIBA rules.

Australia (6-0)
96- 78 1998
130- 74 1994
79- 78 1990
110- 86 1982
77- 75 1978
99- 62 1970

The USA has never lost to the Aussies, so I still like my chances.

Last time we played you guys at the Olympics, we were in control - it was our game to lose and we lost it.

I like your chances too man, you're the fucking kings of basketball.

Oh baby O baby. Brazil all gone

Americas #1, slayed by the giant-killers.

That game was kinda funny, in that no matter how good we were palying, the refs still managed to keep it kinda close. If that had proper officiation, we wouldve recorded like 30 blocks. It's a crime that we potentially could have lost that game when we dominated every facet of the game so blatantly. I have no doubt anymore that we can upset the US team, provided that the refs don't ruin it.

It's kinda unfair/blatantly ridiculous that we finished first in Oceania but still got placed in the HARDEST pool in the tournament. NZ finished behind us and got placed in the EASIEST pool. WTF.

And what's all this talk about Tiago Splitter. He's a big soft baby. He has no NBA future that i can see. Bogut is better than him in every way.

Bogut played shit offensively, but rebounded like a beast.

In conclusion, the refs sucked, we still won, and yes, i am blindly patriotic. And i maintain that the USA has NO WAY of stopping CJ Bruton. That cat should've been carving up the NBA for years now, but he didn't get signed back when he got drafted in '97...

I can't believe we just lost to fucking Turkey.

14 points up, and then we blow it.

Those internatiol referees are so fucking bad. It's like every team we play is San Antonio. Our two best players get fouled out in the crunch and then we blew it. We are one of the softest teams in the comp, yet we accumulate so many fouls. What's with these Euro refs' bias against the Aussies and even the US team?

If one were made to guess the country that has the worst chance of fielding a competitive baseketball team (if they even had a basketball program), I would think many would say Turkey.

We only beat PR by 11. Whoopee. Hardly something to write about which means I'll stop right now.

The United States was in true form last night crushing China 121-90. Yao Ming fouled out and looked fat and lazy. They still need to tighten up on defense a little after the first two games, but offensively they can hang 100 on anyone.

Really? with Memhet Okur and Hedo Turkoglu, I'd make a random guess that they could be pretty good.

Don't get me started on Okur -- he'll be worse than the Kandi Man when it's all said and done. I have a problem with 7 footers that can't get 10+ rebounds a game. Turkoglu... meh. Some talent there, somewhere, maybe, maybe not.

I thought they weren't on the Turkish team after throwing a fit about joining the team late.. ESPN discusses it in their breakdown of each group.
They basically say that Turkey doesn't have enough talent to do anything in the tournament.

Good call. The Turks bend the rules for no one.

Anybody have a game schedule? I'm a little late to the party, but I'd like to start watching this.
