Yes.

I am 26 but people have thought I was up to 37 before. When I tell them how old I really am, they say something along the lines of my "maturity". Thanks.

I work too much and don't play enough. I am an adult.

Although it's cool to kinda sorta have your life together and make your owns rules, my sense of responsiblity oftern makes me sacrifice the "young" stuff I would rather be doing. At my age, I rightfully should be allowed to blow off work and responsibility to go have fun. But, then I feel guilty. Damn work ethic.

That has nothing to do with age, m'lady, and I'm one of the few adults around here.

Being an adult doesn't exclude curiosity, experimentation or failure. Of course, you already know that, being an adult and all.

I'll be goddamned if those who don't consider themselves adults are worth one second of my time and attention. Legitimate children excluded, of course.

Also, the rest of you telephonaphobics and closet cases need to drop the "grown-up" talk. It's like saying you're "PO'ed". If you won't say it, then you aren't.

Im 30, Ive been going through a midlife crisis since I was 16.. like Z, Im a curmudgeon- my rolemodels are Red from That 70s Show, and Frank from Everybody Loves Raymond.

Having kids doesnt necessarily make you an adult but it sure as shit makes you at least think about being more responsible. (Calling "road trip" at 2am in the morning after a night of drinking doesnt get me into the car anymore).

I lament being an 'adult' -- its not much fun really, in fact I suspect etymologically it is another term for being resigned towards bending over and taking it from the Man.

For 37 - I'm manic. Sometimes I feel or act young and other times a bit curmudgeonly. This usually occurs when either playing with the kids or disciplining them respectively.

I had a punchline for my reply last night, but I must have gotten sidetracked and now can't remember what it was.

I'm 19 and I feel like an adult, but thats just mostly because I've been doing a lot of adult things lately like renting my first apartment and stuff like that. Although as far as acting like an adult goes I'm not even close

Answer: maybe

I feel old and burntout, and have financial woes like an adult, but I still care about things that a youngin' would care about, i.e. music, movies, art, etc.. I'm still idealistic to an extent which to me is an intrinsic quality in youth.

pollysix Wrote:
A good example of what I'm talking about is a phenomena that seems to be growing in our neighbourhood that Senor Six pointed out the other day and aptly called "hipsters with babies".

You know, some guy or gal rockin' their American Apparel/white belt/ratty jeans... whatever, and a carrying a baby.

New York magazine covered the phenomenon in this article: Up With Grups.

For a dreary, humid Sunday, suprisingly, I am not. I guess it was an overgeneralization, but it depends on who you know. I know plenty of people with kids and such that the only music they listen to is on the radio and the only TV they watch is shit like Entertainment Tonight or the Disney channel.

np: Oneida - "Thank You Parents"

Grownup.

Mortgage, 403(b), dependent cat, career-type gig, can't drink more than 4-5 without a hangover, all posters in frames.

In...my...sensations
I believe that I...was
born with the things that I know
I want...to talk...
Like ev'ry
Before I decide what to do

And I fell all over and I
couldn't stand up
I can't be critical
I can't won't stop
Such a happy day
for me
Bring a happy day
to me
Send a happy day
to me
And a happy day
came to me come to me here it come...

I'm...only...looking
Feel like my heart
has a will of it's own
I feel...feel nice inside
right here
And now it's...summer again

The story that I told
The story I made up
I was foolin' around but I
can't won't stop
Such a happy day
for me
Bring a happy day
to me
Send a happy day
to me
And a happy day
come to me, come to me, here it come...

This...boy...is in motion
Some density
moved right beside me
I want
My sentence
Right here
But now I'm far away

A sign was given but
many years have passed
Cost a little bit to love you but I
won't can't stop
Such a happy day
for me
Bring a happy day
to me
Send a happy day
to me
And a happy day
came to me come to me here it come...

It's alright

yes/no.

yes in some ways because i've been living on my own & working since i was 17.... started my career at the age of 21 without a degree and i'm grateful for that.

no because i still party like i'm 19. and still need to finish school. and i made quite a few mistakes in the past that i'm paying for now.

I'm 32; Don't really feel like an adult, mainly because I don't have a proper career yet, not a homeowner, still generally treated as a senior grad student.

I am an adult:
-Taking my 2 kids to the Reds game today wore me the F*%k out.
-I prefer to go to bed early on Friday nights instead of going out.
-I have seen 2 movies in the theater in the last 3 years.
-I have a bad back, and often have to tell others about it.

Nice moves Stu, that was pretty much exactly what I was talking about.
I guess I'm kind of part of that---althought I'm a bit younger than the group they described and am not to into the $400 pre-ripped jeans... but yeah... that sums it up pretty well. Thx.
