Faith No More - Album Of The Year
Sugar - File Under Easy Listening (but I'd also consider Besides even though it's a b-sides collection because it still manages to kick ass.)

Maybe I'll think of more later.

My Morning Jacket's "Z". Their best, yet; imo way better that "It Still Moves" and marginally better, than "At Dawn" or "The Tennessee Fire".

What a great band, Live!!

This has to be the only music-related message board that doesn't have at least one Roger Waters worshipper ready to nominate The Final Cut.

1965 is not my fave Whigs record (Black Love is), but its a mighty fine final album for the band and id put it up there amongst others i have heard.

I consider 65 to be their weakest.

And it always irked how they claimed that track of the chick moaning to be a "song" and that they split the last track in two and called the jam at the end another "song." Dude, if you've only got nine songs, just call it nine songs. And the Slide Song kinda reeks of an unfinished, undeveloped idea with a less than stellar performance.

Black Love and Gentlemen laugh at this record.

i respectively thing those are petty arguments against the record, but to each their own. i agree that Black Love and Gentlemen reign supreme over em, but i thought an 'uplifting' (somewhat) cd to end things, was a refreshing idea.

That's true. Black Love is pretty bleak.

I figured somebody would mention Terror Twilight. It beats the solo Malkmus stuff, but it just doesn't hold a candle to the rest of Pavement's albums, even Brighten the Corners. They quit with their dignity in tact, but they definitely didn't go out on top. I know a lot people on here feel differently, though.

Until recently, Strangeways was the only Smiths album I owned. Based on that, I thought I didn't like them at all. Still, I know most fans of the band don't think of that as their worst so I guess it's a decent choice.

However, that's Magazine's worst album by quite a large margin. It's not even as good as Devoto's solo album that followed. They totally fizzled out at the end.

Avalon is a great choice, though. Maybe my 2nd favorite Roxy Music album, after their first one.

I like that self-indulgent, morose mess of an album very well, but saying it's the last Pink Floyd album is a bit of a slap to the other three.

Live at Village Vanguard Again - John Coltrane

But for this board... Roxy Music Avalon was a good call.

Especially since I listened to Momentary Lapse of Reason about a billion times more than The Final Cut (and I actually kind of liked it, too.) Sorry, I know, it's "Pink Fraud," but I love it, and even love parts of The Division Bell. Were those Gilmour solo albums, people would have heaped praise on them as "good enough to be Floyd albums." I take them as they are, musically - stuff I like to actually listen to.

I think most regard Expression as really his last album, but it was posthumous, so I guess that's questionable as to whether those sessions were meant to be released as-is or not, but I go with "as-is." I also really like Stellar Regions, but that's really posthumous. I just can't really listen to LaVVA, unfortunately. I like this period of Coltrane's, but this set just grates on my nerves. Sanders is just too much here! Take it down a step, man!

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland
It was the last record that trio ever did together. I don't consider either of the post-Experience Jimi albums to be the same "artist", just different bands with the same leader... like Sugar vs. Hüsker Dü.

Speaking of...
Hüsker Dü - Warehouse: Songs and Stories

I guess this counts:

Slint - Spiderland

Though they put out an EP afterwards.

Cosmic roar.... unlistenable and the sound of a world ending and being born. Cool... it's not.

I need to get more of the Coltrane/Sanders stuff.

I only have two, one of which I love (Meditations) and the other I could never really get into (Ascension).

If we're gonna go down this road, then I'm throwing in R.E.M. - New Adventures in Hi-Fi

Love 'em both.
