Kicked up a little New York Dolls on the way to damn ol' Kroger, and it got the brain movin.

Personality Crisis is one of the most mongerous songs in history. OPens that album witha gotdamn wallop. Let's you know where yr. at.

Almost the exact same feel I get when I hear Rocks Off, which opens Exile on Mainstreet. I remember where I was the first time I heard that opening riff and the sheer feeling of "This is It!' that accompnied it.

Chinese Rocks by the Heartbreakers is kickin it down down to tha ground.

Gimme some more (I smell a mixtape)

Radcliffe, Billzebubba, Derris I think you guys know what I'm talking about.

Agreed. Hearing it @ Little Steven's Garage Fest... even though Johannsen is a bag of bones, they killed it.

Same way I felt when I heard "IOU" by The Replacements. Like being kicked in the head, punched in the gut and blown by angels all at once.

What about Husker Du, "Something I Learned Today" or Social Distortion, "Cold Feelings".

And if you're genre skipping, Public Enemy. "Bring The Noise".

I own no Husker Du...something Derris has been trying to remedy for sometime now.

Social D is in the right vein of mongerdom, and in a weird way, so is PE

What Mats album is that on, CSwia?

I have Let it Be and Tim, but can't say I really listen to em, like, ever.

"Pleased To Meet Me" - first track

First 'Mats I ever heard (after years of hearing how important they were) and to say it made an impression is as big an understatement as can be made.

"Shooting Dirty Pool" also belongs on the MongerMix CD...

Rock 'n roll loudmouth, spew in my glass
Stroke another one down, right behind my back
Do us all a favor, get yourself a spine
Everybody's chokin' on the grapevine
(chorus:)
Shootin' dirty pool, spewin' dirty lies
Shootin' dirty pool, spewin' dirty lies
I heard it on the airwaves, I've seen it in my glass
Get your money on the table, get your head out of your ass
You're the coolest guy that I ever have smelt
I ain't a notch on nobody's belt
(chorus)
Why don't you get a haircut, sister? {bottle breaking} That's it!
(chorus)

"Rocks Off" and "Personality Crisis" pretty much represent the music I've been searching out all my life. That shit is hard to find.

I'll have to think on this a little longer, but here's a primer list:

The Saints "Know Your Product"
Alice Cooper "Under My Wheels"
Sex Pistols "Holidays In The Sun"
Blue Oyster Cult "The Red And The Black"
Rancid "Start Now"
Backyard Babies "Make Me Madman"
The Libertines "What A Waster"
The Clash "Safe European Home"
Ducks Deluxe "Coast To Coast"
The Lime Spiders "Slave Girl"
Ian Hunter "Once Bitten Twice Shy"
Mott the Hoople "Death May Be Your Santa Claus" (studio version)
The Faces "Pool Hall Richard"
The Only Ones "Another Girl, Another Planet"
The Paybacks "Scotch Love"
The London Quireboys "7 O' Clock"
The Lyres "Help You Ann"
Stiff Little Fingers "Roots, Radicals, Rockers, and Reggae"
Ike Reilly "Last Time"
Blues Explosion "Burn It Off"
Sweetwater "Superstar"
Tsar "Calling All Destroyers"
The Wildhearts "I Wanna Go Where The People Go"
Tonio K. "Funky Western Civilization"

That first one listed, the Saints "Know Your Product", might be the only one on that list that stands on even footing with "Rocks Off" and "Personality Crisis" - but they all smoke righteously.

You want Mats song for this mix, I pick "Portland". It's not fast, but it's right.
It also ends with Paul Westerberg saying, "Portland...We're sorry."

I heard a while back that it has something to do with a Portland show that went infamously terrible in a way few could do like the Mats. I don't know if that's true or not, and I can't even remember where I read that.

Great tune, but hardly mongerous... if I may deign to make such a judgement.
That one falls a little too close to Westerberg's syrupy singer-songwriter canon for me.

Yup. "KYP" made my Listmania II the songs list.

More to check out:

The Dictators: "Minnesota Strip"
The Tubes: "White Punks On Dope"
Sweet: "AC-DC"
