These guys have been getting some decent reviews for their debut album (Beartrap Island or something?).

I took a quick listen to their 3-song demo wrapped in a brown paper bag a few years ago and thought it was ok. The only time I've seen them live, though, they played ahead of Sarena Maneesh and started their set around midnight (I had to be up at 5:30 the next day), and I hated the lead singer with a passion (partly because I wanted to sleep and partly because he's annoying).

Anyway, any Obner opinion on these guys? Should I give them a second chance?

ha! i remember that demo. i was really bored with it.

and to be honest, i'm not that into them- too generic. there's a song here or there that i don't mind but i wouldn't go out of my way to see them.

Ok, good. That's exactly what I thought. They seem super generic indie, but they got an 80% at cokemachineglow and have gotten some other good press :? .

And I really wouldn't mind punching that lead singer in the face.

do it! :rawk: they were being dicks about my friend reviewing/interviewing them for an sf-based indie publication so by default, won't support them.

I saw them last week with birdmonster. As I listened to beartrap island for the first time last night i thought to myself, "god, I hate it when bands sound completely horrible on record, but really great live." They were really good live. But completely horrible on record.

You have to at least admit that the lead singer is annoying, though. And he has one of those super whiney, high-pitched voices.

(wow, I didn't realize it when I posted this, but I just really wanted to bag on Division Day)
