I don't know if there's been a thread on them already but I just got this and am about to listen to it. Has anyone else heard it? My friend says it's like MBV meets The Psychedelic Furs. It's number 74 on Pitchfork's top 100 of the 1990's. But that's Pitchfork..
Let me know if you want it. I'll go and listen to it.

'Dreams Burn Down', 'Paralysed' and especially 'Vapour Trail' are songs to listen to as you lay on your back and stare at the sky on a beautiful day

Great album. A classic in the shoegaze movement. I actually replaced this recently in my collection from an old copy I had in college.

one of my all time favorites. still gets monthly play.

do yourself a favor and pick up their brilliant follow up to Nowhere "Going Blank Again", and make sure it's the re-issue that features "Grasshopper". one of the finest moments in shoegaze ever.

i love cool your boots too.

'even a stopped clock clock gives the right time twice a day'

pure bliss.

i wonder if this type of music will make a comeback? the silversun pickups gives me a bit of hope. their guitarist is using a hell of a lot of pedals like adam franklin used to.

The first time I heard them I was in grade 9. Once a week on our baby- boomer radio station they actually let someone cool in the studio: Claude Rajotte (aka God). I used to just sit there with my tape deck... ready to hit record.

One such tape included:

Ride "Nowhere" (last track on the record)
Slowdive "Alison"
and
"Ooops" by 808 State featuring Bjork (whos that?)

Jeebus. The blueprint for so much to come.

The song "Nowhere" honestly sounded like nothing i had ever, ever heard. It took me awhile to wade through all that fuzz but once I did I was totally hooked. Still one of my favorite Ride songs. :)

I saw Ride with Lush as the opening act fifteen years ago. Hadn't heard anything louder in my life up to that point. Pretty frickin' amazing.

And as long as we're throwing around the love for Swervedriver, I saw them play with Ned's Atomic Dustbin in the 7th Street Entry that same year. I don't think there were more than 40 people at that show.
