I actually like much of Eric Clapton's work, and have been to see him many times. That said, this cover song idea is the worst thing EVER. EVER.

All-Star Clapton Cover To Raise Relief Funds

A multi-artist cover of Eric Clapton's 1992 hit single "Tears in Heaven" will raise money for the victims of the tsunami disaster in Southern Asia and Eastern Africa. The recording will feature the talents of veteran U.K. artists Elton John, Phil Collins and Rod Stewart, operatic tenor Andrea Bocelli, and metal icon Ozzy Osbourne and his daughter Kelly. Proceeds will be donated to Save the Children.

John will record his part tonight (Jan. 20) in London, followed tomorrow by Bocelli. Collins plans to record his contribution near his home in Switzerland while Stewart and the Osbournes will do their vocals in Los Angeles.

The release is being organized by Ozzy's wife and manager Sharon Osbourne, who says she felt personally affected by the tragedy because her family was due to visit Thailand three days after the tsunami struck on Dec. 26.

"My heart goes out to every person affected by this tragedy and that is why I am putting this together in the hope of raising more funds to help these people rebuild their lives, especially the children," she says.

"Tears in Heaven" was originally written by Clapton as a tribute to his four-year-old son Conor, who died in 1991 when he fell from a window in New York. Released on the Clapton-scored "Rush" film soundtrack, the song reached No. 1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart, No. 2 on the Hot 100 and No. 9 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks tally.

Oh come off it! Yeah and I feel personally affected because

a. I hooked up with a Thai chick once
b. I have been to the beach
c. I enjoy Indian food

This reminds of a time where this dude at my HS died in a car wreck and all these popular girls who did not really know him cried around school for a week and saw his funeral as the social event of the season.

We won't see indie stars get together for a group version of "Wave Of Mutilation." Which is probably good.

"My heart goes out to every person affected by this tragedy"

The real tragedy about this is that the Osbourne's didn't leave for their vacation three days earlier.

:ashamed:
