I bet you are really looking forward to the NFL season now, so you can erase the memories of the Red Sox's play this month.

Minus that Bill Callahan coached Raiders team a few years back, the AFC has been dominant recently. I'd venture to guess that the Broncos would somehow revert back to the Super Bowl ineptitude they had during the Dan Reeves era, but the Colts would indeed win a Super Bowl. I don't necessarily believe they rig Super Bowls, but you cannot deny the fact that the NFL wouldn't mind seeing Peyton Manning win and reach the magnitude of the Elway/Montana level.

You missed my point. Neither team would actually GET to the Super Bowl, despite the fact that they were playing each other for the right. How can a team advance when neither can win? Get it?

I get it, but the Broncos can win the game if Plummer gets hurt. He's really the only guy with a jinx, the Colts cannot at this juncture, since Manning would still somehow win a championship and a Manning cannot win a championship.

I'd agree with you IF all this had happened during the season after he'd actually been on the field and contributing, but right now the only one this is imploding is T.O. himself. I've seen all three of their preseason games so far, and Terry Glenn is making catches that would leave Lynn Swann in awe while Bledsoe looks better than he has since leading the Parcells-coached Pats to the Super Bowl. I'd rather they go ahead and squash all the T.O. nonsense now than wait until well into the regular season.

it's wishfull thinking that it's going to go away. He's not a very forgiving or rational person, once he feels wronged he gets worse and worse.

I've built my hopes up so much that I might jump off a cliff if the Bears suck this year. Shitty pre-season has me pretty nervous.

Why do Chiefs fans hate the Cowboys? We used to share the same city, you know. Oh, that's probably why, come to think of it.

Well, I personally have no Chief beef. I'd rather see them win their division than pretty much anyone, except maybe the Sandiegosuperchargers.

Lamar Hunt is 113 years old.

You should probably just go ahead and book a flight to Acapulco right now.

That reminds me of my second all-time favorite Norm MacDonald joke (the Better Than Ezra one is #1, of course), where he ponders the fact that there's really no way to objectively judge/score cliff diving:

"There's pretty much just 'Grand Champion' and 'stuff on a rock'."

He's also a bit of a soccer-phile, if I recall correctly.

But, then, which does he refer to as football, his Chiefs or his Wizards?

Depends on how you interpret "suck." They'll win the division at least. But I'm thinking NFC Championship/Super Bowl. I'm bound to be let down.

I would buy this if Archie hadn't been such a dick in the mouth when Eli was drafted.

Now the NFL should do all it can to ensure Rivers has at least three rings before a Manning even sniffs the big game.

I was perplexed by that as well. I don't think the two fan bases are at odds at all.

Yea, I'm very disappointed. They looked much better last week vs. Atlanta.

I think Donald Driver is the sole superstar left on this team... and that includes Favre.

You meant to say that Carson Palmer and the Sam Adams and Dexter bolstered defense of the Cincinnati Bengals looked awesome!!!

I saw that last night watching that dreadful Monday night game. What is he like 45yrs old now?

It's a shame that the NFL is not set up similar to the English Premier League, then a team that plays as shitty as the Packers did last night could be dropped down a division. Favre should have retired last year, his receiving corp seems inept and they all have stonehands.

Should I be looking for some fat Irish Bostonian hitman with a nasally accent?

When you are defining Donald Driver as your "sole superstar" it's gonna be a loooooong season, pal.

it was tough, but on offense, their first two series were good except for the turnovers. no idea what the h*ll favre was doing with that fumble, but the pick wasn't his fault. but after the pick he did seem flustered easily.

in some backwards defense of the pack, they were playing a superior team and it showed. they have the seeds to become strong next season, but will need to rely on a weak 2006 schedule, where they don't play many teams as good as the bengals, to have a shot at winning their division. that's their only hope.

and that's realistic. i have 'em going 8-8 losing a tiebreaker to the bears. i'll watch every game but might need more beer than usual to help me thru.
