a little background. . . i have a roomie now to pay for a certain someone's rent in nyc while she goes to "school" at "columbia" and studies "art" in her "masters program".

there's now this new smell in the room where he's deposited his stuff. it's kind of astringent and slightly vinegar-y. i fear this is what mlle was warning me about--the dreaded "guy stank"--something that i didn't even know exisited until we moved in together.

so i have, in an attempt to quarantine the smell, closed the door to his room and have begun to hope that that smell will not become pervasive in the entire place. he hasn't even begun living here yet and, though he's a good guy, i fear the worst. any tips on keeping it isolated to this kid's room?

Introduce him to Lysol?

quarantine him in his room or have him don a containment suit anytime he ventures out into the common areas.

one of my roommates has the WORST b.o. ever. thankfully he's moving out in a few days.

Hopefully he's just an old school Aqua Velva man and that accounts for the vinegar smell. Otherwise it's either jack-offal or thick body-hair skunt. Which is ick.

my roommate stinks and when he's not around, i spray his room with febreze. it's not going to harm his clothing or belongings, so i just go nuts with it. for some reason, a lot of single guys do share the same "stank".

Ventilation, my friend. Get them front windows open, put in a box fan or three, and get that funk circulating out onto Worcester.
