you know our listmania #1? with our 100 favorite records? yeh, i'm well on my way to owning all those, now.

stuff i thought people would never be willing to part with, like tom waits and elvis costello and wilco and stuff, i'm getting loads of, almost immediately after i'm free to start receiving more cds. i'm having a great experience with it.

based on katie's rave recommendations, i just listed 10 crappy cds, and i've already got 5 suckers on the line.

How do they pay the artists? Why do they need to pay the artists? They have already been compensated for the original sale of their cd.

i might eventually do this. i have a few cds i've been meaning to sell on ebay or at a used cd store but know won't command much $ (like the last r.e.m. album that has already been re-issued for some galdarn reason).

"The more you ship, the more you get."

How does that work? Are you only allowed to get as many as you ship, or what?

selling and shipping a cd gives you credit to receive a cd.

they pay the artist as part of the ethos.

Ok, I've registered. Where do I specify that I want the cover art? 'Cuz I want it, but I don't think I'm gettin' it.

Why would anyone want to hang on to the art when not possessing the cd?

Yep - if you get the morons that I've dealt with, apparently. This after my user name includes "ALL artwork or no trade." I contacted people when I could, but increasingly I find that people haven't even fully completed the process so they HAD a name and so you can't actually send them a message. I pulled all my trades and wanted items last week - I give up. This la la thing is bullshit - if you don't care about what you're getting, fine, go for it, but if you actually want the full artwork, don't bother - you're not going to get it much of the time, in my experience. Who the hell only wants the liner notes? Why would you NOT want all of the artwork?

Go to Amazon and Half.com - you can buy a lot of stuff there for very little. I buy a lot of my stuff that way for only a few dollars. And it saves a lot of frustration.

sometimes i get the back cover, sometimes not. i'm finding, at the end of it all, that's ok because i've learned its not essential for me. at first i was like, "but now i can't resell it or it won't be properly labeled in my cd stacks and visiting guests won't know what it is." but then i figured out that getting good cds on the cheap outweighs those things for me...

but that's just me. i like getting the back, but its not necessary.

if i did this, i'd prefer the artwork but could live w/o it. this'd merely be an avenue to avoid pee-to-pee detection and save $ on used disc purchases.
