4G for $249 or 30G for $299?

Seems like a no brainer, right?

FEMGAR wants the nano...her birthday is in 2 weeks.

My feeble mind can't understand not getting the better product for a little more money, but the nano is "cute"

and yes, I understand I could probably get it cheaper, but this being dat birfday, we need dat engraving.

Smart ladies tell me what to do.

Dana?
Red?
Ayah?
Tania

If she wants the Nano, get her the Nano. Personally, I'd never ask for the lesser gig, but your girl's different.

What's the engraving going to say?

I chose between the Nano and the 30G for a birthday gift when they thought they wanted the Nano.

I chose the 30G. It went over pretty well.

But, I guess the question is, would she (want to) use all those gigs or is it really for the small/cuteness of the Nano?

KK's having the same issue right now and I advised her to go with the 30GB.

Depends on what FEMGAR wants to use it for, car, working out, etc.

The Nano is easier when working out but the first time she has a bunch of girls in the car and wants to play something specific and she doesn't have it she'll want the extra space.

Even if she doesn't like enough music to fill the 30GB she'll eventually grow out of the Nano as she likes and aquires more music over the years.

Then again, I have a 30GB completely filled and I can't find shit to listen to.

Well, she is decidedly NOT as music obsessed as I, or you. And, she drives a lot (sales rep) so, she will be wanting to change up the songs a lot as well. I think the nano works for her, I just can't understand not paying $50 for 26 more gigs ;)

It's her 30th birthday, and of course we are getting hitched so, I thought about engraving:
You ruined my life
Y'all Old

No question about it. Do not consider the logic, it does not always apply.

chicks dig cute. chicks run under the mentality "why would i want 30 gig if i'm only going to use 4 gig, if that?"

i feel this pain. ultimately, it's for her, so buy the nano (and wrythe while doing so).

Maybe she's afraid that the extra 26 gig would be filled for her with mid 70's to present Stones.

you're so romantic. my ex-husband left me notes like, "you're the best thing that's ever happened to me." and "i love you more than a bottle of johnny black." (truth) and "you're the prettiest girl in the whole world." had he left me a note that said, "you ruined my life", we might still be together today.

get her the nano.

If I were doing this for my fiancee, I'd probably get her the Nano. Somewhat similar situation, I think.

As it is, I'd more or less given her my Mini (that I got for free), and she never filled that up (same amount of space, I think). Cuteness factor, if you're not dealing with a serious music fan, is really more important than the drive space, I think.

Only problem with the Nano that I know of is that there aren't any nice cases for it to keep it from getting scratched. The only ones I've seen were pretty ugly, thus defeating a lot of the appeal.

Interesting. I did not know that about the cases. I was gonna get one of those armband thingies for working out, and of course like flowers and shit.

Good thing is, we are gonna be in Dallas, for some wedding shower thing with her parents' friends, so I get out of organizing a party.

It might not be true anymore, though. I haven't looked in a while (since around Christmas, I guess).

Anyway, might be something to consider before making your decision.

They aren't cheap, but http://www.vajacases.com has a number of nice IPod Nano cases(and 30g if you go that route)......if you want a customized color they do take about a month to make and ship from Beunos Aires though(that is where Vaja is located)...

didn't know it was her 30th bday. buying the 30gig is some geek-romantic association.

Doesn't the engraving void any warranty?

I'd get the Nano. I like portablility and compactness. You don't see me using some huge cell phone with great reception. Nope, I got me a tiny one with shitty reception.
