Have you all heard these guys? Darrin ranked their [/i]release from last year so highly that I decided to check them out and got The Throes (last years) and What The Toll Tells (this years) and fuck is it good. Sort of like if the Black Keys or The Dirtbombs did folk music. Angry, acerbic, disgusting at times, these twentysomething white guys really bring it.

Ill up these two when I get home today, PM if interested.

Just cos the word LOOKS like GIANTS, doesn't mean it applies to me ;)

I liked them until I found out they were associated with Conor Oberst.

Hater.

I picked up The Throes last winter and really liked it. Haven't heard the newest one yet.

Great indie folk stuff.

ive seen them live a couple of times in nyc.
the first time was at southpaw and they rocked the fuck out of the place, opening for damien jurado. most people just wandered out after their set. blistering.
the 2nd time was about a year ago, they were playing this houseparty and they got shut down, so we carried all their shit over to union pool and they proceeded to rock the fuck out of THAT place, too.
then they signed to saddle creek, & i havent seen them since.
i will say i find the records dont even remotely do justice to the live shows.

There are far too many people associated with Oberst now to hate. I can't see hating these guys, M Ward or Jim James of My Morning Jacket for their affiliation with him.

These guys are pretty good and they tour constantly. I have alot of respect for them.

Las Cruces Jail.

The first album is great (in my Top Ten of the decade) this years effort was a bit patchier but is still worth picking up.

Pretty much sums up my take as well- The Throes definitely got and held my attention. The new one is good, but it's almost too much more of the same without the immediacy of the debut.
