Yet another underrated, virtually ignored Dave Davies cut

I thought he was generally considered one of the greatest songwriters ever?

I'm a Village Green man myself but this one ain't too shabby.

Dave Davies

Oops. My bad. In that case, no, he will never get his due. Never.

No, he'll probably always be in the (big) shadow of Ray.

But this post begs the question: You think the rest of the album is mediocre, or what?

There are several good tracks, but IMO it's about the fifth best Kinks album

I've also never understood why people are so gaga over Waterloo Sunset

I saw Dave Davies live a couple years ago and it was pretty awful. So yeh, as a songwriter/performer he's already got his due. More due than he deserves. Dude's virtually overloaded with due.

But as creator of the power chord? There's still some due due.

Hmmm, well I agree with you, but IMO it's still better than about 99% of everything I've heard. But take it with a grain of salt, because on most days I'd consider the Kinks to be my favorite band ever.

I love "Waterloo Sunset" but would probably just make (or possibly not make) my top ten all-time favorite Kinks songs.
