it's one of their opening sets for the Fiery Furnaces in its entirety, from what I can tell

Cool. I keep missing chances to see them. A friend caught them at Corndog-o-rama and said it was indeed awesome.

I refused to see them open up for a band I can't stand the sound of. So yeah, I was pretty pumped about this too.

that tour was actually pretty fucking good; i'm not a huge FF fan either, but for whatever reason they decided to leave all their keyboards at home and only bring guitars. they rocked, i was shocked.

Thank you. I'm curious, because I've also missed them a couple times. And because they don't have a label, apparently. Hmm.

Very good live band. One of the highlights of the Pitchfork Fest IMO.

Yea, on their interview at the Pitchfork Festival on the site, they said they didn't have a label for their next record.

yes, it's extremely unlikely that they'll be on ace fu for the next record. it's also extremely likely that they'll be jumping to the same label that most other ace fu bands jump to after a record or two (hint: it's in chicago), so it's not like they won't have a home for their music, or tour support or any of that stuff....

i still don't fully understand why their latest record has yet to reach a wider audience... considering the renewed interest in all things folky, american and multi-instrumental (all of which this record is, in very strange, warped ways), i thought folks would be eating it up.

Just announced they're playing a show here on 9/20, but I already have tickets for Tapes 'n Tapes the same night. Crap.

quite possible. maye i can infect the audience.

speaking of infection, the girl was trying to get me to go to Envy with her tonight and when I said no she was like "but I went to Envy drinking cough syrup out of the bottle" and damned if she wasn't right.
I'm still not going though.

in due time.

sorry, I just watched that scene in "Nighthawks". I think I'm acknowledging here that the above-par acting of one Rutger Hauer. Well, I'll be damned.
