she played a lot of the new songs during her set last night at mccarren pool. epic-long songs. they sounded wonderful. and she was really good-looking.

I can't think of any questions I'd actually have for her though I will mull over the idea.

I liked that song "Emily." Listened to it twice in a row. And I was a big hater of her first album. Music was beautiful as always, and her voice was decidedly less retarded sounding, while still distintively sounding like herself.

I'm curious about Van Dyke Parks' arrangement.

Only able to listen to this in passing this morning, but what a drastic jump in mood from "The Milk-Eyed Mender"!

Normally I avoid leaks. I like hearing the album for the first time on the day it comes out. Especially when it's something like this, that could quite probably be my number one of the year.

But I guess I'll make an exception. Also, if I'm seeing her in a month and the album's not out for two, I'd like to be familiar with the material at the show.

Wasn't going to download a leak, but I don't get paid until TUESDAY, man. By that time there'll be backlash all across the innerwebs and I won't even have heard it or nuthin

Seeing as how the album's all over the net today, even though it's not due in stores for over another two months still, you should ask her something about that. How she feels about leaks/bootlegs, etc.? If she'd rather the fans wait until it's in stores or if she understands people wanting to hear the new material so much that they can't hold off.

There's many reasons that this isn't really grabbing me. But the strings are the most notable.

They don't add much to the album at all. If anything, they detract.

And for probably my favorite songwriter in terms of lyrics being pure poetry, I can barely hear/pay attention to any of the lyrics. What a disappointment.

I hear you, but give it time and more listens. I bet it will reveal much more that you can attach to. This is not nearly as overt and naked melodically and instrumentally as her first.

I fully expect this to grow on me. I'm just a bit sad right now.
