Is Skype worth using? What's the quality using a regular mic? Is there delay time? Isn't it pretty much like speaking on a two-way?

I recorded a "regular" phone call (not computer to computer) with LooGAR's cell the other day and it sounded pretty good. Too answer your questions specifically:

1. Well, its free.
2. Not sure, because I use a pretty nice mic but ive got one of those headset thingy's around here somewhere and I'll test it out for ya.
3. There is a slight delay.
4. No, the delay is negligible but you dont have to hold down a talk button to converse---you can talk "over" the other person as well.

Also, in the interest of full disclosure, I'll probably be recording any conversations I have so I can chop thm up and clown folks later.

yail, you thinkin' about using Skype for the podblasts? a few of the podcasts i listen to use it and it works out fairly well.

yeah, it seems to work fine though I may have to isolate the skype audio so I can clean it up a little bit with some compression. I dunno, we'll see.

what are some of these podcasts you listen to that are similiar to mine or that you think could be a helpful listen? I know they arent better but still.

I've been using it for over a year for talking to my buddy in the UK. Quality is okay to excellent. Most of the 'okay' quality is the overseas call, and all of my 'excellent' calls are within Canada where quality is sometimes better than a landline. I use a relatively cheap headset mike as well ($20 CDN). So for that very low investement, I've saved I don't know how much in long distance.
