haha... okay, you got me. that's comparable to michael jackson hanging his kid over the balcony.

i guess i just liked the fact that his family was involved in his projects. safely involved is my favorite...

I think Michael Jackson was hanging what was in the kid over the balcony.

that clip on msn is just matt lauer talking with jeff corwin and one of irwin's friends. you'd think they'd need serious warnings all over the real video when it surfaces.

If the family has their way, I'm sure it will never be legally broadcast. Only sick fucks would post something like that.

whatever, I need to view this in order to protect myself from future stingray attacks. Plus, a dude pulling a barb from his heart is pretty awesome.

I wonder how Crocodile Dundee will die.

I thought CD was the guy who died. I didn't care so much about it until I discovered that it was actually Irwin who died. He was irritating, but I always learned something from watching his shows. And I loved that he was such a family man.

When I was younger, I thought they were the same person. It wasn't until I saw Irwin on Letterman and discovered that Crocodile Dundee was a movie that I found out.

Still. Irwin totally ripped off CD.

How do you figure? CD was an actor. Steve Irwin was not.

I know. He's like those highschool kids who quote Austin Powers and Napoleon Dynamite all the time. Get your own shtick, Irwin.

Again, alongwaltz, I'll point out that Irwin was 44 years old when he died. He was a professional crocodile trapper 7 years before the Crodile Dundee movie came out and was running Australia Zoo by '91.

Irwin was hyperactive, outgoing, spastic and a daredevil.

The Dundee character was guarded, suspicious, not prone to emotional outburst.

The only similiarities between Dundee and Irwin are they both used phrases with words like "crikey," "beauty, "sheila" and "gorgeous" in them.

By that account you might as well say half of Australian males got their "schtick" from Hogan. Which is nonsense.

Absolutely. No doubt his profile overseas (and for a long time he was only famous overseas, not here) was helped by the Crocodile Dundee stereotype of Australian males as rugged individualists getting up close and personal with wildlife, but words like crikey and sheila are slang terms that have been in use for far longer than either of those two have been around.

And lets not forget that stereotypes exist for a reason - there actually are some people who act like that, of whom Irwin was only one. It would be pretty easy to find many other people (out bush at least) who do and say similar things, though not with his charisma and attitude.

As for the video, I'm surprised it hasn't leaked already, seeing as it's already been viewed by the police, and well, Queensland cops don't have the greatest reputation (though better than Northern Territory  ). Already the establishment media has said they'll only show events leading up to, but not including, his death, but clearly someone after their 15mins posting it to their blog isn't going to have the same qualms[/i]

Queensland cops are all too busy "scoping out" drug dealers' houses to bother figuring out YouTube.

But I'm sure an enterprising member or your fine service would be more than willing to part with a copy to someone who can figure it out, for the right inducement...

Actually, I heard on the radio yesterday that the family is fighting to have the footage shown. They claim he once said that if he ever gets attacked while filming he wants the cameras to keep rolling. I guess to honor his wish, the want to broadcast it.

I'm not sure how reliable the source is, it was on a sports talk show on my drive home, but that's what they said.

i heard this too, from an unreliable source. how many unreliable sources does it take to be of substance?

If Teri heard you call her a broad she'd kick your balls to the moon.
She's a better man than most of us put together.

She was also a successful large animal handler in the U.S. before she ever met Irwin.

And an impressive woman. She'll have no problem "landing a man." And might not even want to.

from the wikipedia page (with documentation, even): "My number one rule is to keep that camera rolling. Even if it's shaky or slightly out of focus, I don't give a rip. Even if a big old alligator is chewing me up I want to go down and go, 'Crikey!' just before I die. That would be the ultimate for me."

i think he may have said that on "late night with conan" or another talk show, or he's said it multiple times.
