After two months off (summer camp and then the whole move), I'm trying to bike to work again. The problem is I'm at two schools. The good news is I've got an hour and 55 minutes to make the interschool commute.

So from home to my 1st school is 7.43 miles, I did it in 40, but I've got to say that biking all last year in chicago didn't prepare me for these hills in Austin.

Not. At. All.

It's 12.51 miles between schools and then another 8.55 to get home.

a total of 28.49 miles a day.

I wonder if i can do that inter school commute in the time allotted.

I wonder if i can keep it up daily.

wow, 28 and a half miles each day? that's hauling! you'll probably whittle down to my size at that rate.

big ups if you do it everyday.

Very envious.

I'd be way to scared to ride my bike in the streets of NYC.

Holy shit, Phil! That's a helluva distance. Those miles mean a lot more on those hills. I guess there's nothing stopping you from doing it too. I mean, weather-wise, I'm guessing there's not much in the way of winter down there.

The heat can be daunting at times. My taint is sore. One more class until the big interschool commute.

You will never whittle down to my size.

If you keep this routine up, though, you could be a killer Ghandi for Halloween.

use chamois butter like dana suggested a few weeks ago. that taint'll be smooth as an indian's butt by the time you're done riding.

I'm not sure polishing the taint to a high gloss is the answer, but if it works for Dana, then it must be good. At least have some Gold Bondage going on down there.

Nice. I'm loving biking to work myself. It's only about 10km either way, but it's safe, strictly on bike paths, through Old Montreal, along the Lachine Canal and the CN railway. I'm looking to purchase a sexy new bike.

The REAL question is, how many slutty alcoholic married teachers are flirting with Phil at the new schools? Because that's how I judge a school district's quality.

i don't really want to set an over/under on another thread like this one, but it is tempting.

so far, zero.

I hope it stays that way.

70 minutes between schools.

I don't own a bike, although i would like to get one....yeah, riding up the water lines, or in brooklyn sounds more ideal.

let me work on this bike thing first.... the treadmill at the gym is just so unsatisfying.

yeh, i quickly found both the treadmill & bike at the gym to be pretty useless for my needs.
you ought to check out craigslist, there's bound to be tons of end of summer 'i never even rode this thing once' kinda deals from all kinds of suckers.

Riding with friends is the bidness.

Way more fun than commuting alone.

damn, Phil, you're gonna be svelte doing that commute. So 70 minutes between schools meaning the 12.51 mile commute? That's not bad, and actually you'll speed up if you continue to ride the route regularly. I'm not sure what kinds of hills you're dealing with, but on my lunchtime ride which has many rollers, I can do about 11 miles in 35-40 minutes, averaging about 14.5 mph typically. You'll get there in no time, I bet.

Remember with hills....
