so the year's 2/3 over and i'm stumbling over what my favorite electronic-related release so far for 2006 is. i'm thinking either girl talk or junior boys or herbert, but no clear topper.

what's your fav so far?

Junior Boys or Herbert are indeed good choices for this year so far.

Also, that new Massive Attack single, United Snakes is wickedly good.

Helios - Eingya [Type Recordings]

Absolutely magic. Not only one of the finest this year, but finest that I've ever heard.

Runner Up's:

ellen allien and apparat - orchestra of bubbles
booka shade - movements
ryan teague - coins and crosses
nathan fake - drowning in a sea of love
one second bridge - one second bridge
junior boys - so this is goodbye

shit, it's been a great year for electronic music.

i'm still obsessed with Nathan Fake; his record is the newer version of ulrich schnauss i've been secretly longing for. the booka shade is pretty dope too, although much colder and clubish.
and of course i've much love for ellen allien and apparat. The Helios record hasn't really hit me yet, however. not that it might not, but not yet at least.

Not bought much electronica (a sign of getting old I think) but the Nathan Fake album is really great.

'The Sky Was Pink' blows me away every time.

upping it now.

check out a track from it at the following link:

you won't be "blown away", but it really is engaging music. the album flows so smoothly, and is incredibly emotional.

i've included fujiya & miyagi on one mini-mix here and dalen posted a track by them here.

unai: here

gotan project:
here

and i also posted about jimmy edgar: here

halou i included on that one trip-hop mix i did awhile ago... but maybe i'll do a mini-mix theme of my top 10 electronic tracks from 2006. give me some time to sort through them all, and i'll do it.

i know dalen's talked about a few of these as well.

Trentemoller, Alex Smoke, and Herbet. Gonna have to re-evaluate Nathan Fake; I was really really into the Alex Smoke disc at the time and it overshadowed Fake's stuff by a large margin.

Just found this in a Border Community collection i have. I need to check my hard drive more often. It's really good.

I vote for:
Ms John Soda- Notes and the Like (horribly underated... please pay attention!)
Thom Yorke- The Eraser
Electric President
Hellogoodbye- Zombies!... (emoish but still fun)

God, I hated the Herbert at first... the woman's vocals are so "disco" of a kind that really annoys me. But for some reason I kept listening.. it is kind of brilliant.
