Elephant 6ers: I really want to make a "Beulah's Greatest" mix but don't have several of their records. What are "must" songs from their catalogue besides:

Gene Autry
Silver Lining
Emma Blowgun's Last Stand
A Good Man Is Easy To Kill
Your Mother Loves You Son
If We Can Land A Man On The Moon...

Here's my 20 favorite Beulah songs in chronological order:

Maroon Bible
Disco-the Secretaries Blues
I Love John She Loves Paul
A Good Man Is Easy to Kill
Gene Autry
Silver Lining
Popular Mechanics For Lovers
Gravity's Bringing Us Down
Hey Brother
Cruel Minor Change
The Battle Cry of the West
Score From Augusta
Ballad of the Lonely Argonaut
Comrade's Twenty Sixth
A Man Like Me
Landslide Baby
My Side of the City
Me and Jesus Don't Talk Anymore
Your Mother Loves You Son
Wipe Those Prints and Run

This list is very The Coast is Never Clear- and Yoko-intensive, because those are by far Beulah's best albums. But they have no bad albums, because they are a fantabulous band, or were...*sniff*

I should also add that "Gene Autry" is the greatest song of the 21st sentury.

Whenever I read "FT, MF" I very briefly think that Fractured Take and Marian Fudge have joined and are posting as one obner.

np: Jane Birkin "Fiction"

Hey 'Ranger' dude -
Didn't 'Heartstrings' come out before 'Coast' (which as I recall was released on 9/11) ?

I'm definitely a bit partial to : Heartstrings & Coast.

"FT, MF" can actually stand for much more that the obvious "Fractured Take, Mother Fucker" (which, in itself means both that I engage in intercourse with the woman who bore my children and my term of derision/endearment to my Obnish brethren/sistren). To wit:

"Fat Texan, Music Fan" (not a stretch whatsoever)
"First Thing, More Food" (see above)
"Fun Time, My Friend" (matter of opinion)
"Flustered Theatrics, Mister Foreman" (no doubt to be used by the prosecutor at my inevitable trial for the crime I will eventually unwittingly commit)
"Flatulence Turbine, Manufacturing Farts" (gross, and really only true after a swiss mushroom burger and/or cobb salad)

...and so on. As you can see, the possibilities are endless.

That's for sure. He called the fans 'dumb-asses' for cheering after he cleanly picked up a seeing 'eye' grounder late in the game.

Every once in a while 'Landslide Baby' will pop into my head even if I haven't heard it in months.
