Okay. So I have to furnish my own office at work, and am in the process of buying furniture. I am also going to buy some art for the walls. So here are my requests:

(1) If you are an artist or are close to someone who is, post or pm a site where I can see some of the work (if it's for sale). If it's not on a website, pm me an email addy so I can be sent some pics of stuff for sale.

(2) If you have suggestions of particular artists (for either originals or prints) you think I should look at, let me know who they are.

I am not going to blow my kids' college money on the stuff, but I am willing to spend a bit (say around $1000 total) for art I really like.

FYI: I like bold shapes and colors and well-defined lines. Does that make sense? Let's just say I'm much more intrigued by a sharply painted square than I am an image of flowers all blurred together. In other words I much prefer this:

over this:

Also, I make no promises. I will buy something I like and only something I like; but I'd like to see what the artists on this board, or people close to them are doing.

Thanks in advance.

www.catswilleatyou.com <- just about everything is for sale and
really reasonably priced and i enjoy the negotiation process

i have sold several things recently but
haven't done a great job at listing
on the site what has already been sold

i can also custom build / paint to specific size color specifications

let me know if you like anything
heres a few recent ones that people seem to favor

ive been doing lots of expressionisticisish figure work (drawings and paintings)
then these more abstract paintings

Yeah, I work in a very conservative law firm, so definitely not the ladies. But these do intrigue me. How tall are they?

Funny, when I was looking at this image, I thought that the painting was of three "painterly" men in suits and the bloke in the photo (you I assume) was done in a photorealist style and that it was an overall composition (if that makes sense -- like you were part of the group which formed a single image).

a friend of mine, former grafitti artist... I don't think his site has been updated in some time, so you'd have to email for more info.

Cemeterypolka, who used to post here, has done some cool artwork. Dunno if they would fit your needs, but they're worth looking at.

If you see her, tell her we miss her.

From her site: I was accepted in to Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, the Corcoran in Washington DC, and Virginia Commonwealth University (arts program) in Richmond, VA. I am hoping to obtain my education in NY within the undergraduate program for painting at Pratt.

That's what I thought too at first, and I was thinking that would be interesting to have on my wall at work (and would really make some people talk).

The more I look at this one, the more I like it.

And I really dig this (but it's certainly not appropriate for my work):

What happened? Why isn't she here anymore? I wondered why she'd disappeared, but figured it was summer and maybe she'd gone off to do something fun. Apparently not?

Not a painter, but I'm a digital artist . . . I just haven't done anything productive with my work. Below is one example of some stuff that I bothered to put on Flickr, among a bunch more that I haven't done anything with (most of what's there is very old and my newer stuff is better, but I'm lazy, so . . . yeah, I know, I probably should put it all up on a website.) But click on through for some more examples, even if they are out of date.

All my work is done in Photoshop, almost all of it starting with a blank canvas (the few that aren't are based on photos I took) and none utilizing anything more specialized than a mouse. I've actually had some interest in getting prints of these, but I'm having some trouble finding affordable ways of doing high quality digital prints that aren't simply photo prints - anyone happen to know any way to get cheap giclees?

Me too. I've checked out all the sites from this thread and there's really some amazing stuff (although I have to admit, some of it is really not my cup of tea). A lot might not work in my office, but I will keep all of these sites handy as we continue to decorate our house. Thanks, everyone.
